headset sound on mac

hey guys  I can't seem to be able to config my sound to the headset but mike works well, but the output still goes to the laptop !/?  thanks for any ideas

have you gone to system preference >> sound >> output >> headset ??

Is it a USB headset?  Try holding the option key down while clicking on the volume control on the menu bar.  It should give you the option to change output devices.
