w0nder
Having issues with setting up my network with XP inside windows 7 with VMware. I have googled for days now with no luck to my issue. Only thing that I can see that looks fishy is that when I do "ipconfig" inside virtual machine, it does not show that I have a MAC Address.. Hmmmm.. I am pretty much lost at this point. I have used the NAT, I have bridged the connections to use the host network, but just no luck.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Krauersaut
Simple question, have you already installed VMWare Tools?
Term!n@tor
she already has. you can see the tools icon next to clock in xp. i have never used networking while using vmware, i wanted isolated guest for some erp and db applications. so cant really say what ur problem might be. if ur router cant assign a different ip address to both guest and host, try using NAT or creating a virtual network on host and have guest join it. if nothing works google some more

Should have noticed that. wonder, could you manually assign a MAC address through Windows Device Manager? I'm sure you've already tried VMWare's Troubleshooting Guide? w0nder
I have tried all of the above.. Could it possibly be that the host machine is behind a switch? Basically it goes, modem to router (one PC on this end) then to a switch to my other two PCs.. I tried to get into my router and wouldnt you know it, I cant.. Says "not available" HAS to be the switch, I got nothing else...

Krauersaut
Have you already tried to install a small Linux in VirtualBox to see if the problem is VMWare?
