Daliger Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 (edited) I decided to make this to help anyone who doesn't know what a specific plugin does. In this guide, you'll learn what each plugin on the Minecraft server does. Note: You can view current plugins, by doing /pl =={Plugins}== Swear - As it implies, this plugin filters out any key-words found in the config. We use this plugin to prevent swearing. However, you can toggle the use of this plugin. To toggle this plugin, do /censor. By default, this plugin is not enabled and will not censor any words. (Bukkit link here) OneUUID - This plugin prevents any player from joining the server after they change their username at Mojang and will prompt them to change their username back to their original one. This locks out all players who have changed their username to prevent abusing multiple accounts, basically locks Mojang accounts to one username on a server. (Bukkit link here) GroupManager - This plugin handles permissions of certain groups of people. This is the plugins that lets the admins choose which commands/features you are able to use. Without this plugin, most of the plugins would be useless. (Info link here) NOTE: This plugin is not found on bukkit, however it uses craftbukkit to run.) AntiCheat - Yep, you guessed it. This plugin prevents people from using cheat clients, such as Nodus. It detects any "Impossible" behaviors, and stops them from happening. (Bukkit link here) BukkitCompact - This plugin is only used by admins. BukkitCompat is part of McMyAdmin. It's used to let McMyAdmin receive commands used in-game while running Bukkit instead of Vanilla. UUIDFetcher - This plugin has one purpose. To "Fetch" players' UUID. If you want to know what your UUID is, simply do /uuid (Bukkit link here) CoreProtect - This is another plugin that only admins can use. CoreProtect allows admins to view any and all block changes made by players. And if conceived as grief, all selected block changes can be rolled-back. (Bukkit link here) Permissions - This is another permission handling plugin. There is probably a reason that two permission plugins are used. What is that reason? You'll have to ask Joe or someone lol. GriefPrevention - When you're prompted with the text "You are not allowed to build here" or anything similar, it is the GriefPrevention plugin that is disallowing you to build there. Admins use this plugin to protect certain areas that they no longer want altered by the public. (Bukkit link here) IcePvPControl - With this plugin, you can toggle whether or not you want to be able to be struck by other players (AKA PvP) To toggle PvP, do /pvp (Bukkit link here) mcMMO - This plugin simply makes Minecraft more interesting. mcMMO adds 14 unique stats to the game that you can level up. And as you level said stats up, you begin to unlock features such as double drops. mcMMO adds is typically quite competitive between people, as there is a leaderboard /mctop (Bukkit link here) Essentials - And finally, the most common bukkit plugin known to the Minecraft community, Essentials. As implied in the title, this plugin adds very "essential" features. There are over 100 commands, and MUCH more features that come with essentials. Some of the commonly used features are /kick, /mute, /tpa, /warp, /afk, /whisper, /tell, and /mute. You won't encounter many servers that don't use Essentials. For total info on Essentials, go here. If you have any further questions on a plugin, feel free to ask here. Another admin or I will answer as soon as we can! This thread is subject to change when a plugin is added/removed.
