Killbox Revival

I've noticed in my absence our Killbox server on 1.7 has become a ghost server, and that's really depressing. Before I left, at any given time there were at least 20 players on at once. I would like to try and help turn this around and get it back to the server's former glory. I personally do not like HC servers and I'm sure many of the other people aren't fond of it either, but seeing as our servers are the last remaining decent servers left they had to either migrate or quit. I understand that there is a thread about this issue, however I do not feel that what I have to say fits into that thread. It's mostly voting on maps/game-type. So, with all that said, here is my proposal for the Killbox server:

 

1) We need to fix the map issue. By that I mean, we can't have crap like Killhouse following Shipment in a rotation. No one wants to play a camp-fest two maps in a row. I also have come to find out that the server has only 3 maps in the rotation, which is another no-go. There should be at least 5 maps, if not more to keep things interesting. Here is my suggestion for maps/game-types:

 

- Crash: DOM

- District: TDM/DOM as this map is decent for either one

- Overgrown: TDM

- Crossfire: TDM

- Showdown: SABO

- Wet Work: S&D

- Backlot: TDM

- Broadcast: Whatever game-type. People love this map.

 

Again, these are just some suggestions from me. Not something that needs to be set in stone.

 

2) PB needs to be taken down. We had problems with hackers when PB was down, that much is true, but it certainly wasn't a large enough issue to keep players away nor were we unable to handle most of them through admins a majority of the time. I'm not totally sure why, but a lot of people have problems with PB and therefore people tend to steer clear of the servers that have PB support.

 

Now, these are really the only two big things I think need to be done first to get progress to come along. After that, we can start to put a larger focus on things such as perks and whatnot. I am also more than willing to monitor the server myself a majority of the time, as I am an admin myself. I would really like to see this server come to life again.

 

I hope that a lot of people see this and are able to help me help the server.

I completely agree. Sometimes, though, in the last couple months, Killbox had as many players as Beginners

 

These ideas seem good to me, anyone else?

I totally agree, thx to my job I am usually monitoring Killbox everyday from 7am up to 5pm. unfortunatly we are like 4 or 5 regulars only, and most of the time i am jumping alone. We should advertise more on the Beginners server for start in my opinion. We have to change the maps and the rotations first of all and maybe some competitions. With a lot of work (advertising: on xfire, our servers, website) we can bring this server back to LIFE.

The Killbox server is advertized on Beginners quite frequently in the chat window already.

I'm glad to see some people agree so far lol. I am with Doc on the advertising thing, though. Killbox is advertised a lot on Beginners, it's just that no one wants to play with the map rotation and whatnot. Hopefully we can keep generating attention towards this.
