Coin collecting can be a long, expensive and arduous process but it is a fantastic way to make a long-term investment and of course if you wish to do so, learn about the history of those coins. I started collecting coins when I was 15 and today I have about 600 different coins with more on the way. They amount to almost $10,000!

Some of my more prominent coins are:

1.0oz fine gold (22carat) South African Krugerrand (1974)

1/4oz fine gold (22carat) Russian 10 roubles (1899)

1/2oz fine silver (.99) Russian 50 kopecks (1912)

1.0oz fine silver (.999) Chinese Silver Panda (2012)

1/10oz fine gold (.9999) Australian Kangaroo (2012)

Some great books on the subject are:

Coins and Coin Collecting by Dr. James Mackay

A History of Money from Ancient Times to Present Day by Glyn Davies
