Apollonius Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 (edited) Remake for the first game in the series drops next year. Here's the trailer: But I've decided to play the original one (and if possible the 2 sequels as well). The first jump scare was crazy son of a biscuit I thought that thing was dead! Initially after the remake was announced, reaction from the community wasn't that welcoming because EA itself killed the franchise and remakes are notoriously underwhelming for not living up to the original. But looks like it's going to be good, if not better. Let's see. Also heard that there's going to be an "Intensity Director", which basically randomizes the game experience and events in the game. So, you can't really memorize creature spawn locations or anything like that. 3 Quote

I wish they would remake Dante's Inferno of all things, but I'm stoked as well for Dead Space. I cant wait. my 2nd favorite horror series to Resident Evil.. and 2nd is cutting it close! neck and neck with RE 1 Quote

Actually DS would be my first "survival horror", and it's been scary as hell. I have ADHD and I can't play this at a stretch for even 10 minutes lol! I'll upload more videos soon. It's a nightmare on Ishimura here... at least on RE you aren't in the middle of effing deep space with the alien undead and those spooky ambient sounds. The game has a very good script and design, and sound system. 1 Quote
Apollonius Posted May 23, 2023 Author Posted May 23, 2023 Playing through the remake, slowly, choosing the most opportune moments, savoring the horrors of Ishimura with Isaac. This remake was a very job well done by the team. 1 2 Quote

Because now remakes are made by simply increasing the resolution of textures and selling for full price, it's a shame. Quote

Honestly speaking, these things are a hit and miss. In many situations, they go the wrong way, for example, Rockstar remastering the GTA trilogy. I was very disappointed. Rockstar is a name that's almost synonymous with top-notch execution, but here they completely failed. In some remakes, they nail it. For example, just look at the Resident Evil remakes. It's not just textures though for a remake or remaster; you have to develop against the SDKs of modern consoles. You also gotta have the game perform reasonably within what each of those machines are capable of, hitting that benchmark, which is a hard thing to do, but not impossible. And what I find sad is that many developers don't make the commitment and effort to ensure the best performance a console is capable of while making games. Quote

No, like remasters and remakes. There are good ones and bad ones. That's what I meant, maybe I didn't put it that way. There are also remakes of such quality that your eyes pop out Edited May 23, 2023 by Dimo4ka 1 Quote
