Run ET as Administrator. If that doesn't work, disable User Account Control (UAC).

If you are running Windows Vista or later I have heard you may need to run the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP. Right click your game icon click properties and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and choose Windows XP from teh drop down menu. Then click apply.
