#775817 Profile on ET from Win to Linux?

Posted by SunLight on 28 August 2017 - 05:39 AM

No, its not the same machine.  I wasn't sure if there was any difference in the OS.  I understood that I'd have to copy it, just didn't know if anyone else has successfully done this.

Thanks for the answers.

Basically all the files in your folders like etmain, silent, etpro, jaymod, etc. are the same.

You might need to make some changes to your config for some things, like mouse (e.g. in_dgamouse), or keys that have a different name in Linux, or things like r_ignorehwgamma, but aside from that everything is the same and can be copied as it is.

my linux dosent recognice cfg wich are made windows so that copy/paste maybe do the trick.

As regards the configs, I've never had problems, but maybe because even on Windows I always use Unix format for the newline in the text files? I've never edited or saved them with things like notepad that might mess with the format, only used editors 'for coders' like notepad++ or similar.

Unless you use etlegacy all your configs and important files should be in your ET folder and subfolders if I'm not mistaken.

You can either copy the files, or if it's in the same machine you could even make a symlink or mount, to share the same mods folders (i.e. etmain, jaymod, etc.) for Linux and Windows without occupying any extra space.
