#802633 Battlefield 1 - still worth?

Posted by Vanaraud on 10 March 2018 - 01:34 PM

Decided to try the game as I got it free on my yearly EA access. It took me a while to familiarize with the big maps and near real life combat system- 1 hit kills often compared to ET-s bullet sponges running around. Also for a team to win every class MUST be represented, medics are really important as healers, opposed to ET rambo-medics again;)

It´s really awesome to storm wide fields with the whole team, feels so grandiose.

Had some problems to run the game as it started to crash in every 15 min, fixed it by lowering my CPU OC- maybe my system is getting old and gets tired. Also I noticed it stresses the CPU a lot, most of the time my old good I5 IB runs on 100%. But nothing suprising here as I knew massive Multiplayer games do stress CPU a lot. Also lowered the game graphics settings, maybe it helped with the crashes also, took a hit to my pride to dial down to medium-high;)

Wanted to ask what those medic, assault etc class promotions give. It describes quite well in ET with every promotion given- medic have more health packs, FO more ammo, can arty quicker etc. But didn´t find any descriptions for BF1 classes.

I´m playing under the name in BF1 as is the name under I´ve played  in ET HC lately.

#801043 Teammates wide a**s

Posted by Vanaraud on 01 March 2018 - 10:52 AM

Is  it only me or why is it so. Whenever some teammate comes in 3m from me I get pushed aside, ofcourse I will loose my aim and also can´t move.

Quite annoying "feature"...

#801038 WTF is happening with my pc?

Posted by Vanaraud on 01 March 2018 - 10:40 AM

If anything is broken, then it would be reasonable to assume many system crashes to happen.

One possibility is that fans got damaged and PC is throttling.

Try to monitor the temps of the laptop, HWMONITOR is a good program, it alos has basic SMART capabilities to see if HDD got damaged as hard disks are very susceptible to vibrations.

Thanks for the info.

From personal experience I gave up tinkering with those settings after moving to win8.1 as it manages CPU resources better than win7 and before that.

Though with pre-win8.1 it seemed to matter and it´s worth a shot with CPU-s with low frequency.

2 things will destroy electrobics: temps and\or overvolting. If you keep them on recommended specs its all fine.

Heard nvidia doesnt throttle down with multimonitor setup, might wanna check if gpu\memory go Hz go down while idle.

So basically you deleted you colorprofile with new card? if calibrating on monitor the settings might stay..

#797371 Knives

Posted by Vanaraud on 05 February 2018 - 03:31 PM

I don't have much new to add, but I'll just echo what has been stated: if a good player plays covert ops with full XP and uses knife, they will win the 1v1 on 95% of occasions. Unless you're a medic with full HP, it's two frontal stabs and you're dead. You're dead in less time than a panzer takes to shoot, in less time than you can shoot three headshots, and most of the time, before you can push them away (given the huge range). There is no weapon as overpowered as a knife. It's far easier to kill a panzerfaust who's firing right next to you and even the best-aiming rambo medic.

There are some good (medic)players who will recognise you from the weapon(sten is the easiest to spot on undercover enemy), position themselves to corner(against backstabbing), push and 3x HS a covie. And then there are long time players who will happily throw you some health packs when being in undercover:P

Also there are players who will totally ignore "enemy disguised" sign even when some poor fellow go FO on closed maps, just to play for the team in case some enemy goes undercover as covie, instead of hogging arty only in maps with lots of open space.

I´m often wondering how some players have "swords" and even when I´m starting to sprint from the other part of the map they still manage to catch up and kill me with 1 stab. But hey, its a game and they are good at it(knifing).

So long story short, no covies doesn´t need any more handicaps.

btw ET is cool bc there are more than 3 maps(adler, delivery and frost) and more than 1 class(medic). If it was, it was CS...

This case is a monstrum, have to look for parts in each separate corner;)

Pics with GPU also;)

#796208 Startup repair couldn't repair your PC

You upgraded to win10? Win 10 automatically started to update- can take hours with all "service packs" released. And add to the mix the new Meltdown\Spectre patches which might try to add "new security" features? Maan good luck with trying to unf.. this Xernicus.

Anyways Id advice you to run some Linux based live OS and try to salvage anything important till you still can;) From instance you could format some bigger USB to have one part for Live OS and other part to hold files...

I would check it out in Netflix also.

Also waiting for the 3rd season of "Expanse"- great mix of politics and intrigues fueled by alien "tech" and space drama.

AMD is affected by Meltdown, which is similar to the Intel bug, Spectre. Patches have been released for both, however, so you shouldn't let either of the bugs affect your decision

Link please?:o

Imo AMD and Intel both are affected by Spectre and last I checked AMD wasn´t affected by Meltdown. http://www.tomshardw...ants,36323.html

I really doubt if that Hyper 212 can handle any OC, even massive tower coolers could do at best 4.8Ghz by TH: http://www.tomshardw...w-34037-12.html

They use AIO but good tower air coolers can keep up in most of the cases...

And whats that Roswill PSU? Never heard about it, quick look at google pointed me to JH review: http://www.jonnyguru...Story6&reid=405

Read its based on Sirfa platform, turned away.

Personally I´d go with new Seasonic series or Corsair RMx or EVGA G2(not G3 as they put some leafblowers on them).

If you can protect your system by yourself then why run updates at all?;) I mean, have they ever solved any problems? no... don´t recall I saw any, though i´ve encountered updates that broke things.

Anyways AMD broke DX9 games with their latest update, they promised to fix it soon. Adrenaline software was it, the previous ones should work fine.
