#784240 Thor 3 - Ragnarok | trailer

Posted by Vanaraud on 29 October 2017 - 01:18 AM

Went to watch the movie in IMAX 3D. First I´d like to point out what a disappointment the 3D of this movie was and the IMAX made even less impression.

The IMAX logo at the beginning of the movie was very promising. And then the movie started ...

After the disappointing start of the movie with it´s lacking 3D effects the whole movie seemed boring.

It would have been a good action movie but the CGI effects looked very simple at times: for example the running of the warriors looked like from 90´s B rate movies. Also Thor´s character seemed dumbed down, I don´t recall from Avenger movies him being so childish. The soundtrack added to the bad feeling about the movie- the whole movie looked like action packed Tron(pun intended). If I were to watch it in 2D cinema on happy hour time for 2-3€, I would say it would have been worth it. But to shell out ~12€ for it is real waste of money.

#771899 PS4 vs. XBox 1

Posted by Vanaraud on 29 July 2017 - 11:15 AM

Stock PS4 offers better resolution for many titles, and offers a 4K-gaming-ready iteration, so take a PlayStation :)

PS4 Pro has better GPU than Xbox, that´s true. Xbox Scorpio will be even more powerful...

#769768 New PC build Soon

Posted by Vanaraud on 12 July 2017 - 07:02 AM

Asus z170 Pro Gaming is a great mother board for about $125.00 USD

I don´t think that Intel mobo and AMD CPU will work good together.

To answer the question about mobo. I´ve not heard that certain mobos will be more upgrade proof, even the fact that Ryzen2 will be supported by AM4 socket is questionable till the release.

If you plan to OC, then check that the heatsink on the mobo is beefy. Also check if RAM is supported in QVL. And ofc check the extras you would need: usb3, m2 SSD ports etc...

About Jobbas post: Nvidia GPU-s don´t support AMDs Freesync, you can still use the monitor just fine, just FS is useless in that case. But from my experience, simulators(rally, stealth, generally non FPS games) run better with FS.

If you are planning to get a 100-series mobo, then be sure it has latest BIOS already installed. Else you need to get an older CPU and install new BIOS(mobo can be bricked, lost my A bios, now running on backup B bios).

i3 might be a good choice for budget build, but some games(Far Cry pops into my mind) might stutter badly. Also there are even better alternatives: http://www.pcgamer.c...m-g4560-review/ though it´s pleagued by same problems as i3.

On a micro ATX build 1 RAM stick is a good idea, leaves 2nd slot for future upgrades.

#769565 As you guys may already know... I'm building my first PC (need feedback)

You can´t run RAM any higher than 2133MHz on that chipset anyways.

#769298 Little advise needed

Posted by Vanaraud on 08 July 2017 - 02:11 AM

It is NOT a good time to buy graphics card: http://www.tomshardw...ices,34928.html

In the end of the month should AMD-s new Vega be rolling out, also Ethereum will shift its logic of how it is mined and AMD\Nvidia might roll out new patches of chips(totally my speculation).

So it might be wise to wait 1-2 month for prices to stabilize. Also new APU-s from AMD might ease the situation a bit.

#767457 What sensitivity do you use

Posted by Vanaraud on 22 June 2017 - 01:59 AM

Polling rate of 1000 might cause system stability issues, 500 is mostly fine.

Edit: First I´d put out here a excellent description from Sunlight again: https://fearless-ass...ungry/?p=422461

Also did some testing and found out:

- http://mouseaccuracy.com/ my score seemed to go worse with polling rate of 125.

- in ET I didn´t notice any difference between playing with mouse set at 125PR or 1000PR, even with lower monitor refresh.

- 60Hz monitor refresh rate is awful- it´s tearing and feels so slow.

(I recall that some games like Fallout: New Vegas and some more go crazy on high DPI\PollingRate, if the screen starts to wobble up and down, it´s worth to try lower those settings)

How are they recorded? There´s no air in space so sound waves don´t propagate.

#767277 Playing on TV screen

Posted by Vanaraud on 20 June 2017 - 03:19 AM

Moved from 22" to 27" and it´s already easier to notice things, but for FPS a 120Hz monitor is a must. Whenever my PC\monitor defaults to 60Hz I can always notice it, it feels like dragging my mouse through porridge, compared to response of 144Hz monitor.

Just my 2 cents

#766771 Mang Ont

Posted by Vanaraud on 17 June 2017 - 05:29 AM

It´s my friends band, they are playing doom, stoner mostly in local pubs in live. I´m not into metal much myself but when their own speakers + amps make eye balls jump in the eye sockets then there´s something thrilling about it;) In advance I´d suggest you to turn your speakers to max to achieve the full effect, tried to listen to it on decent headphones and the effect wasn´t so good...

Also was quickly skipping through other "heavy metal" topics and though I´m not expert on the genre they seemed too "soft", hence the separate topic :P

Here´s a new album from Mang Ont: https://mangont.band...om/album/v-hk-2

#766619 The new wolfenstein: wolfenstein 2 the new Colossus

Posted by Vanaraud on 16 June 2017 - 04:28 AM

Really enjoyed the "Old Blood" as it was a true-blood FPS, even better than "New order". Hope the new installment comes out as good as DOOM, a real oldschool FPS, no BS cinematic experience like CoD, BF etc...

Don´t care about MP-s anyways, they all are infested with cheaters, unbalanced and die out less than a year, so better if devs won´t waste time on them and put resources to make best out of the SP instead. Unless some1 comes out with a MP with dedicated servers, like ET where admins can keep the servers clean, PunkBuster´s always been just a milk cow, useless as Denuvo.

(Well Overwatch was quite well balanced for my suprise but as they say: an exception proves the rule)

Also Wolfenstein series has a 50% discount on steam atm.

#766415 How to identify fair teams - Enemy Territory

Posted by Vanaraud on 14 June 2017 - 11:15 AM

!howfair should be the last in order and maybe even in () as it´s really misleading.

Played yesterday 5 x 2+KD on my team and Zero + 2x 1.9KD on opposite team and got our asses handed to us by 100 less kills on our side.

Also it´s important to take a look how far attacking team has advanced, even if attackers has 8+KD but they still sit in their spawn after 75% map time has passed, then teams are clearly unbalanced to the other side...

Sry but just can´t stand it how ppl jump in server, check !howfair, and start spawnraping\camping the supposedly "stronger" team.

Long story short, most important tool in any admin duty is- COMMON SENSE.

bump

Please also check how far the attacking team is advanced.

If one team is camped to death after spawn shield comes off, then teams are unbalanced, no matter what !howfair or players count tells you.

#765584 Windows 10 Mucked my PC

Posted by Vanaraud on 08 June 2017 - 03:16 AM

You can access your broken PC still via 2 ways :

1) via mounting HDD to Live "Linux" USB

2) putting your HDD to other machine with working Win, this way other OS might corrupt some system files though

Also starting with Win8(.1) windows forces drivers with only win signature, so Shana might be right in that matter. I had to force even mobo chipset drivers manually as Windows thought it´s good to automagically fk things up.

In Win8.1 it´s under Control Panel\System and Security\System "Advanced System settings": DeviceInstall.JPG

For Win10 it seems to be located under a different place though: https://www.tenforum...ndows-10-a.html

I´ve ticked all settings to manual. Then you can install your preferred drivers in peace, without windows overwriting them as it wishes.

Intel iGPU+ win10 sounds very familiar, some Win10 updates caused problems like I´ve heard. google it or try to install some older iGPU drivers.

If you have dedicated GPU and don´t want to use iGPU at all, then you might try to look for options in BIOS to turn iGPU off alltogether and uninstall Intel iGPU drivers.
