  3. and the irony of all this is that the "undeniable" proof that aliens exist, is still deniable and debatable. While scientists still aren't exactly sure how the first cell on earth formed, with so vastly many planets and stars out there, almost infinitely many, and because life somehow got started here on earth, it is almost guaranteed that it also did somewhere else. The main debate i think is whether or not aliens can get here and really are here to screw with us, since it is almost guaranteed that extra terrestrial life in some form exists somewhere. So far, I have yet to see any evidence that points out that yes, aliens do exist without a doubt; and, quite frankly, because of the internet making a lot of people, myself included, a lot more skeptical of this type of thing, I doubt that I ever will see anything that will convince me otherwise.
  4. I have quite a few linux installs (some true installs, others VMs) so if you ever need something compiled on linux, all I need is the source code
  5. if you have VMware, you have to use version 7, set the OS to debian linux and set the networking to be bridged, otherwise it won't work, I have not gotten this working with VMware 6, and haven't tried it on virtualbox
  6. yes definitely, better security (for now at least, whether or not this holds true remains to be seen, IE 6 was at one time toted as the most secure version of internet exploder), although sorry to disappoint you Higgeo, there are still plenty of hackers even on IE 8 (although right now its still not quite as holey as swiss cheese; aka IE 6)
  7. I prefer Xmarks, which also supports chrome and safari in addition to firefox and internet exploder (whereas I could be wrong, but it looks like chipmark only supports firefox and internet exploder)
  8. chrome now has extentions, although personally i still prefer the look and feel of firefox, without having to worry 2 much about my privacy, but i will use it sometimes just to check how different pages look in another browser or if one of my other browsers is not happy with me at the moment, but I don't use it very often
  9. debian 5 (32-bit) running headless on my old beige box computer here at home, ubuntu 9.04 (64-bit) on my laptop, ubuntu 9.10 (32-bit) in quite a few VMs on both my laptop and desktop, and a large portion of the other distros lying around on burned CDs and DVDs
  10. yea, gfire is a good plugin other than every time I've used it in 64-bit linux, pidgin will segment fault after between 5 and 30 minutes or whenever I try to IM someone who is in-game.
  11. just because it's huge, doesn't mean it's good, look at german early in world war 2
  12. the name generator also requires you to enable javascript if you have it disabled or are using firefox and noscript
  13. honestly, I have made quite a few websites, all of them by hand in notepad, and the only browser that I have had an issue with is IE, EVERY other browser renders everything pretty similarly (even with a fair amount of javascript and embedded google maps and google earth plugin), except IE. I made a totally W3 standards-compliant webpage where chrome screwed up the page slightly, opera rendered it fine, firefox rendered it fine, and I had to add a hack to get IE to render it readable. And yes, I am a geek, and yes I like open-source software, neither of those is a crime... yet. (and hey, open-source is the same price as piracy, but it's legal) and in fact, I even have 27 pieces of open-source software installed on my xp partition of my computer. And yes, standards-compliant is a very GOOD thing, browser-specific html tags, etc. is a very BAD thing. Not to mention, how come gmail has so many cool features and looks cool... on firefox.
