Hello! I'm Erik. I'm an older gamer, mid 30's, and live in the midwest. I'm from the east coast, but don't hold that against me. I've been a gaming nut since before I was a teenager. I still have and collect all that stuff. Never did consoles post-PS1, couldn't keep up. Avid Steam user, Root/Head Admin for a large L4D2 community. I made a splash in "charity streaming" in the last 3 years, but have not done it in a while: I enjoy it very much and would like to get back to it.
I decided to drop anchor here because of some consistent experiences on the FA Servers. On other servers, which I don't want to name-and-shame, I've seen cheaters, hackers, nasty attitudes, fly-by-night ET servers, when that's all unnecessary. Anyways, I joined the Beginners server, and saw admins who were not only willing to answer my questions, but were kind to the new members/myself. I died a LOT and said something like "I thought this was the beginner's server," and someone had validated that by saying "You just need to give it a chance." Obviously, my first experience was a good one. I've uninstalled and reinstalled ET about 200 times in the last few years, but have played it since it was still new.
I seem to have amassed a lot of games on Steam, but really only play a few of them. The hours posted for L4D2 are, in fact, legit / real... (check the online stats, they're commensurate.) It's a LOT of modded VS games and a LOT of addon campaigns. That's also why I have so many hours in the GTA games. I guess us old dudes like to be good at 1 or 2 games, instead of simply knowing how to play a bunch. My sleep schedule is bizarre, too, so I can manage to get insane gaming hours in once or twice a week in major sessions.
I'm always happy to make new friends and if you interact with me on the servers, it will be a positive interaction. I welcome and invite tips, as I've seen professional ET players here, unlike anything I've ever seen before. I wasn't just having off days, I really have seen some amazing stuff, and some have built mastery to the point of anticipating many moves, at any time. I really hope I can get to that level.
My primary reason for playing ET is to have an outlet and personal game that is new or NOT L4D2/GTA. It's also very nice to game without having to have administrative responsibilities but, when I see the staff here, I suddenly miss it! Anyways, if there's anything else you'd like to know, or if you'd like to arrange regular ET games, sign me up! Let me know, and I of course love getting friend requests. You'll see me in the Beginner's server until I can at least hit about 5k or so XP. Then I'll be cannon fodder for the rest lol
