  1. thanks! desktop being built ETA next WE
  2. thx for the reply so, is an i5 then better then an i7? for general PC usage, think both are OK i know it's an old game, but i play ET often, and if one cpu is better then the other for that, then I'll choose the better ET-performant one as to desktop or laptop: i now have a desktop, and i dont need that new pc to be mobile. do you think that in today's laptop world the arguments pro desktops are still valid? (i mean: easier to upgrade new gpu etc) my concern is also this: cpu's get faster each generation, so automatically you would think 'oh good they'll be better for the game' but, OS also gets heavier to run each new generation so, for me it's hard to judge where the balance sits: which cpu is now actually going to deliver the real better performance, combined with new gen windows / new gen Firefox / the good old ET. Against background of the 4-core-6-core-8-core etc, same story: which would be recommnded? Or, is all that worries unneccessary, and do they all run 200 fps, lag free Thx again for the kind advice.
  3. As my PC is 8 yrs old, I'm looking into getting a new one. Most likely, the new one is offered with Windows 10 on it. I've heard some people mention that Win10 gave them issues for playing ET, lags etc. The post above seems to indicate that it runs well though, is that a correct understanding? All advice is welcome. Win7, Win10? (all advice on pc too, intel core i5 or i7? 5820K?) ET is important, that has to run smoothly. Thx!
  4. sorry for using this thread, hope it's OK I read entire thread with interest, as I'm having issues of similar nature. In-game, on a certain server, not on other silent servers, I have red spikes across entire span of lagometer (between 4 and 12 red spikes almost continuously). Small yellow triangles appear now and then too, often, but small and less frequent then the red spikes (between zero and 3 on a lagometer width). It seems to give me little freezes in-game, i notice it by my own or opponents motions, with of course bad effects on aim & gameplay. Ingame ping is stable around 50. maxfps set to 100, it fluctuates between 70 and 100, depending on map and activity going on (often between 90 & 100, but smtms drops) I tried winmtr (for ip of issue server), and it seems to say it's fine. If I'm reading it correctly. Am I? What I also have had since last few weeks, is: 1) very often, long time to launch the game (like a minute or so) 2) sometimes, in between maps, the screen freezes and i see like 70 % plain coloured stuff (nothingness, just sand colour eg), and 30% of screen is here and there a bunch of dispersed fragments of the game images. When this happens, i have to close & restart the game. What do you guys think of this? memory broken? something else? If usefull info, maybe: since last 2 months or so, firefox is extremely slow too. Must say, I have on average like 20 tabs open. Also during game. Closing firefox doesn't change the above game-issues though. PC specs: intel core 2 quad q6600 2,4 GHz, win vista 32bit, Phoenix bios, DDR2 mem 3 MB, NVidia Geforce GTX 560 2MB, test20150211.txt

    hi

hey, I've played on your ET servers several times over the years. Thought I'ld register and say hi. I play this game since 2003, for fun and relaxation, always going for the objective, always trying to keep it fair, mostly play medic, sometimes cov or engi. I've been ref/admin on few servers in the past, it's been a while but I know my way around for setting up server cfg, using rcon, etc, but mostly I like to play the game, try to every day, if work allows... I'm from Belgium, over 30 years old, 2 kids. oh, and: Favorite color: blue Shoe size: 43 EU - 9,5 US What brought me to F|A servers: the search for fun games, and mature gameplay What brought me to forums: F|A Ultra Grtz F'nat!c aka unReal
