  1. Guys, another question, this time about gaming laptops. Does a graphics card with the same model number in a laptop and desktop perform the same? For example, this machine... https://www.bestbuy.com/site/msi-15-6-laptop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1070-512gb-solid-state-drive-matte-black-with-gold-diamond-cut/6211741.p?skuId=6211741 ... has a Nividia GTX 1070. Is that the exact same card as in the desktops? I am in the market for a gaming pc and a work laptop. I was thinking of getting both a gaming desktop PC and a macbook pro but then I thought I could just get one high end gaming laptop and hook up all my peripherals to use as a desktop at home. Thanks for any information or opinions, I appreciate the help.
  2. Thanks for the quick reply Xern, that is some good information and matches my research.
  3. Guys thanks for the feedback. I am about to pull the trigger on a new PC because I am tired of getting pawned on my 10 year old toaster. Do AMD CPUs play better with AMD G cards or it is it fine to use a Nividia g card with an AMD chip? How does this one compare to the one in the OP? Is the Intel chip as good as AMD? What about the Nividia G card? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BDTTQ1M/ Here is another AMD one by Dell: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076DL7DLX/ And a similar one by HP: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071KX171L/ Basically I am looking to spend $1K to $1.5K on an Amazon Prime product. I want to use it as my every day PC for work and for it to be good enough to play pretty much any game at high settings. I would like it to be future proof for a number of years. If you have any specific recommendations from Amazon I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance.
  4. pr0digio on hc server because he just annoys me. Always knifes you and then gibs again with knife. And he never says anything and always makes the teams uneven because he wants to only play on allies.
  5. Thanks captn. Any particular product from there I should look at?
  6. Thanks for the replies guys! It seems the rigs with Intel chips are liquid cooled but the AMD ones are not. Would the rig I posted be very loud with the fans they supply? I am pretty sensitive to noise. If liquid cooled is quieter I would consider paying for that.
  7. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1338643-REG/cyberpowerpc_gma420_gamer_master_ryzen_5.html Looking to spend around $1K. I don't want to build it myself. This vendor B&H has pretty good deals and the CyberPowerPC seems to be their gaming brand but is probably just some dude building gaming PCs for them. Should I get liquid cooled? Thanks guys!
  8. Anyone play Fortnite? I have been playing Battle Royale mode for about 3 weeks on PC. It has some good things and bad things, but mostly bad IMO. I find myself getting frustrated and tense mostly when playing and having fun like 25% of the time. It is pretty addicting and I have spent a lot of hours playing but it feels like a waste of time. ET was fun from the first game and the game play and spawn design kept it quick and always fun. Good things: Free download on PC Different modes: solo, duo, squad Different weapons Unreal engine is mature Game play is good Fun to loot Fun to play on a good squad when people have mics and communicate well The PC controls become familiar quickly Bad things: It is difficult to get good and you have to put a lot of hours into it. Building is OK once you get used to it but it can be annoying. It adds complexity to the game. If people don't use mics on your squads or duos your team is weaker and less fun It takes a while to get to the end. Each game takes a while. The end game is very different and you have to be a good sniper and good at building. Too much strategy. A lot of downtime between fights that are often one-sided. Too many pros and try-hard's. No first person view. Looting gets boring after a while. Let me know what you guys think about Fortnite. My handle on there is soar479, friend me if you want to play.
  9. Ratspit good to see you on the forums man.
  10. Thanks Xernicus! I checked r_primitives with 8.960.11.1000 and it was 0 so I will set it to 2 like you suggest. I also have not restarted my PC since rolling back to 8.960.11.1000, I guess I will do that at some point
  11. Hi Xernicus, I used Windows to rollback the graphics driver to the previous version. It went back to version 8.960.11.1000 from 15.200.1062.1004. I logged into ET and with 20 players on HC server it was at least playable. So hopefully this is enough of a fix for now. I checked and confirmed that it was the 'AMD Catalyst Control Center' that I used recently to upgrade from 8.960.11.1000 from 15.200.1062.1004. So I did not use the Crimson release and used what AMD recommended. Thanks to the ideas in your tutorial it led me to try a simple driver rollback before doing the whole thing. Thanks for your help!
  12. OK thanks Xernicus, I will follow your tutorial. I am attaching the output from dxdiag to show my current display driver config. DxDiag.txt
  13. Hi guys, I play ET a lot mostly on HC server and I am getting so much lag now it is unplayable on the HC server with 24 active players. Before it was not a problem. The recent changes to my PC are: - Installed Epic Game Launcher and Fortnite - Upgrade AMD graphics driver because of warning from Fortnite. Used the automated upgrade software from https://support.amd.com/en-us/download. My internet connection is 25 Mbps or so over a Wifi connection and my ping shows at about 15 in the ET game so I don't think that is the problem. I have not changed anything in my ET config since I started playing the game 15 years ago so it is probably default. I am running a Windows 7 desktop, AMD Phenom II X4 830 processor, 64 bit at 2.80 Ghz with 8GB RAM. My graphics card is an AMD Radeon HD 5570. It is a 10 yr old machine but should be OK running ET Any advice would help, thanks.
  14. Seeing them live at the end of the month.
