Streamathon - A Solution to Funding Server Costs

Let me start by shouting out the homie Cheep Heep and by saying:

MAKE HARDCORE FUEL DUMP AGAIN

Streamathon

A Solution to Funding Server Costs

The current calendar year as of this posting is 2018, Enemy Territory has been around since 2003. Its been out for a very long time, fifteen years and in this time we have seen the popularity grow from thousands of active servers at its height of popularity to now really only a handful exist, and this clan owns the majority of them. Though the population of active players may be diminished, whats left is a very dedicated fanbase. But just because the population has lessened it doesn't mean that server costs have. But what if we had a solution to utilizing the dedication of the fanbase towards funding the upkeep costs of running some 8+ servers? What if you could have a blast while doing it? Dare I say, possibly cause a resurgence in popularity?

ENTER: STREAMATHON

You guys create a Twitch (twitch.tv for the uncultured) account for the clan. Link the server donation Paypal to the Twitch account in Streamlabs. Then the host will spectate the server and then in exchange for cash donations towards the server you make fun things happen.

Advertise the stream on the servers and ON REDDIT, TWITTER, AND YOUTUBE. There is a surprisingly active ET Reddit community that this could get some nice exposure on.

Now when people donate they can choose for their donations to cause different effects with such example as

  • $1 for 1 minute of no gravity
  • $2 for 2 minutes of panzer war
  • $5 for 5 minutes of sniper battles
  • $20 decides the next map

You can try this with other games if the server admin has access to cool features like these. I don't know if games the clan operates like COD, TF2, Battlefield etc. have admin options like ET does to make stuff like this happen. If it does, do it with them too! Hell, you can make multiple Twitch account for different games if the popularity calls for it. I know for a fact this would be possible with Minecraft and would get a lot of traffic on YouTube.

I think this would be a really fun and exciting way to get some additional revenue in for server costs and would be way more inspiring than just running in-game advertisements that get ignored due to the carnage of battle.

Thoughts?

PS: BRING FUEL DUMP TO HARDCORE PLS

You really are craving for Fuel dump lol.

Pretty cool suggestion Spidey. I would lower the prices however. Nobody going to pay 20 bucks for next map hahaha. Only issue i'd see is that we have this on gameday for free. 🤔 But it would definitely be cool if we could get something out of it too.

The price points are putty you can mold them to be whatever you want them to be I'm just laying down the framework of an idea.

Yeah, but how to make a synchro browser to server, you paid and on server you unlock a option to change gravity. If we can do this, we can make this in levels, set on forum and you get automatic on servers.

I was just thinking someone would be shoutcasting it the whole time and kind of being a broadcaster of the match going on. When someone donates that broadcaster would be the one to execute the donation's wishes.

This is some really good forward thinking right here.  There has got to be one or two of us that has that broadcaster's voice out there with the energy to boot :)
