Ho scoperto di avere questa fortuna;
Voglio raccontarvi una storia divertente:
ho a casa di mia madre il "FTTC (Fiber To The Cabinet)" 100 MB in meno di 20 MB, sono sfortunato perché il paio di rame che va dal cabinet all'appartamento è logorato, e lungo i 300 metri, ricevo molte richieste scadute e anche in periodi di congestione del traffico, improvvisi aumenti di latenza, forse anche a causa del sovraccarico del chip del mio povero modem fornito dal mio ISP (con il riavvio restituisce stabilità per alcune ore) questi test sono gli stessi sia su cavo che in wi-fi, quindi presumo di non avere problemi wi-fi (il segnale è sempre buono 96-99%, il download nel test lo conferma da 30MB fino a 76MB, e da 40 MB fino a 15 Mb a seconda del tempo, la distanza è di circa 15-20 metri), in poche parole vivo nell'appartamento sotto mia madre.
Nel mio appartamento che condivido con la moglie il cane e la nonna, la rete fissa è gestita da un altro ISP, il contratto stipulato 4 anni fa da mia madre, era teoricamente solo telefonia fissa, avendo in passato lo stesso ISP, nel mio l'appartamento di mia madre (dove ora ho la fibra), avevo un vecchio modem ADSL, ieri ho deciso di aprire la fibra nell'appartamento di mia nonna, ho cercato l'ultimo conto dalla banca online, ho trovato il codice di migrazione
e lo stupore leggendo il conto "mai letto in 4 anni" trovo internet attivo 24 ore, ADSL 6Mb in calo di 0,8MB
Quindi ho usato questo vecchio modem per provare a collegarlo, si allinea inaspettatamente il pc e io entro Jay3
sorpreso da tutto questo, faccio i test, sono consapevole che la velocità di upload è davvero minima per il 2018, ma ho tenuto conto del fatto che ET è un vecchio gioco basato su UDP e che consuma poca larghezza di banda
avrei bisogno di conoscere il tuo umile giudizio

il lagometro di ADSL è piatto e non presenta mai interruzioni o aumenti di lattazione, nei test ho un jitter stabile a 1, senza perdita di pacchetti, tiro ieri ho notato solo che gli scatti escono meno veloci della fibra, devi evitare il duello faccia, ma è accettabile, il mio voto è 6

il lagometro FTTC (Fiber To The Cabinet) è variabile e influenzato da molti fattori diversi, presenta sempre interruzioni e triangoli gialli e aumenta la latenza per alcuni secondi ma sempre vicino ai duelli faccia a faccia, nei test ho un jitter instabile che varia da 0 a 4, a volte con perdita di pacchetti, quando la connessione funziona bene la velocità dei miei scatti è sicuramente 10 volte migliore rispetto alla vecchia ADSL ma questo accade ora anche poche volte durante il giorno, il mio voto è ancora 6

Sono sintonizzato con i 2 ISP per domani che chiudo entrambe le connessioni e voglio aprire FTTC (Fiber To The Cabinet)
nell'appartamento di mia nonna, per questi 3 motivi,
la coppia di rame è nuova,
è collegata a un altro cabinet ,
è meno distinto

e l'ultimo quarto motivo, e sicuramente il più importante di tutti
è che finalmente posso giocare anche a me in ethernet, e romperò il culo hehehe

dammi le tue opinioni su tutto ciò che ho scritto ne ho bisogno

For FTTC (Fiber to the Curb) and any DSL connection, you want what's called a "home run"- or indoor wiring that goes straight to the modem, and a minimal number of non-used twisted pairs that could be causing cross-talk. That is nearly impossible in an apartment rental-- those are usually a complete disaster for telecom wiring.

For your FTTC connection I see no severe issues based on the tracert. Everything looks relatively stable, with only 2ms of jitter give or take on the server. Pingplotter or WinMTR would be better for diagnosis.
However if you're experiencing a poor connection with Fiber, based on those statistics I would not blame the copper.
Copper really only has one of three states for telecom:
1. it works
2. it works with limited speed (note: latency and bandwidth should be normal-- this would be a bridge tap issue for example)
3. it does not work at all.

With that in mind: if you have issues playing ET while on Fiber, I would blame your ISP for "overselling" the service- also known as selling more internet/cable TV services than their equipment can provide. This would lead to increased latency, dropped packets, excess jitter, etc. during peak hours.

This third hop also leads me to believe that is the case, since best is 8ms, worst is 35ms, and avg is 28ms:

Your ADSL connection however has a terrible connection to the router. If that 25ms does not change whether you are on wireless or cable, than you need a new modem/router.

i once was having limited to barley a connection couldnt figure it out .... but .. i found a bad splitter in my cable box outside was culprit ... also the splicers  between cable lines  can go bad too.. just throwing this out there ..this stuff doesnt last forever....couldnt he just try diff router..if he has more than one????

You are correct and I know because I install cable (Satellite actually). Loose connections, poorly seated connectors, kinks in the cable, damage to the "jacket" (outside covering), low frequency barrels and splitters can cause signal degradation. Every connection cause loss of 1.5dBM. Every 10' of cable cause lose of 1 dBM - which means adding interference or "line noise" to the system. Cable quality is a big issue, Many older apartment buildings and older homes us old, RG59 Steel Clad cable which is rated for less than 1850 MBS. Using larger splitters, 4 and 8 way compounds the problems even more

I should add, when it comes to cable, large companies like Comcast, Spectrum, Time Warner,m etc compress the hell out of their signals so they can push Internet, Video and Telephone across 1 very thin layer of copper. Best bet, if you can, is switch to Solid Copper. It handles more voltage at longer distances better than steel clad

in fact I wrote to have found an old modem with old firmware

I was able to test only with this modem, but I think I understood that copper is better in my grandmother's apartment


in the fiber the tests are sometimes strange examples.

That's a very slim SNR margin on your downlink. That connection is pushed to the line's limit... even though it's supposedly capable of 5mbs higher, I wouldn't push it. Do the connection stats show whether you are on an interleaved or fastpath mode?

I'd keep an eye on your SNR margin and the current bit rate when you run into issues. See if that download speed lowers, or that SNR goes up/down +- 0.5dB. Upload looks like it should be stable (12.9dB), but keep an eye on the download. If it falls below 7, the modem may re-provision at a slower speed for stability. If your connection uses Interleaving, it should be stable. Fastpath would run into issues.

At my old place, I had a connection like that, with almost the same SNR readings. Lines outside were nearly 60-70 year old ancient lead coated things (wouldn't even call it copper at that point 😛), worked great in the summer, and was even fine in the rain, but once the wind started blowing... drops galore.

in fact, unfortunately the cable comes out of the balcony and climbs to the street lamps, for about 300 meters until you get to the cabinet, it is subject to rain and pigeons that lean and swing all day, this is also why I want to put the fiber instead of this ancient 5 Mb ADSL connection, because I'm sure the cable is newer, and protected from bad weather, and does not move because it travels in the wall and under the ground up to the cabinet that 90 percent is a else, because I'm 4 here in the neighborhood, if I'm lucky I'll solve all my problems, and celebrate with you on the F | A servers.
I'm happy to find moral as well as technical support, you're really a nice family, I love you.
