Leader RedBaird Posted March 13, 2018 Leader Share Posted March 13, 2018 (edited) Good luck in the Army I forgot about that part of his Hello! The most dangerous thing you will do in Basic Training is to throw Hand Grenades. Keep a firm grip on the spoon both before you pull the pin and as you are preparing to throw it. Modern 'nades, unlike the WW2 ones, do not smoke or make a sound when the fuse is started, nor do they leave a sparky smoke trail. It is possible, or so the DI's told us, to fumble the spoon and end up with a grenade going off near your ear. That is what I told my nephew when he joined the Army. Another cousin joined the Navy and all that he got to do was fire pistols and use shotgun-simulators! They do learn to tie cool knots, though. I should ADD that that 'nade-description were of the USA "Mills-type" grenade, not the German one. I've never seen WW2 footage where they made a smoke-arc in the air.
