i don't think you need a 1080 or even a 1070 but if you must get it ram can come later and in 2 or 3 years move it up to the 1080

I thought about a 1060, but i need to go look at comparisons to see what the drop off is

I can get a 1080 right now, but I just do not want to spend $900. That would go too far over budget

It's a $500 card. Definitely do not spend $900. With a 4K screen you definitely want at least a 1070 ($400) or 1070 ti ($450) to play new games. It's just hard to get right now. Like when I bought all my stuff, I had no clue until when I was going to be able to get a 8700K. They will come back in stock after a little time passes. If you have an old videocard, I would throw that in until higher end cards come back.

You may also want to look at a 1440p screen with a higher refresh rate 144hz vs 60hz of a 4K screen.

I built my computer summer before last. i used the corsair carbide cube.  If youre gonna build one then this will keep your wires on one side with your pwr supply and your graphics card, cpu, and MB on the other.

I like the AMD graphics cards because they give just as good or better performance as the gforce but dont cost quite as much.  I heard the AMD gives less trouble too.

I put in the 1T ssd for the main hard drive, and a couple of reg hds to back up to and an a good grade cd/dvd read writer.

Also like the corsair series power supply.  It has many plug in ports and fits well with the corsair carbide cube.

I bought the latest and greatest I7 chip and matching mb with the highest speeds.. think mine was 3333 ghz and the memory was the best brand to match the mb and chip.  I put 32g in mine and have had no problems.

I purchased a walmart 36' lcd tv for the monitor for around $200 i think .  Only thing is mine doesnt sleep with the computer and i just turn it on and off as needed.

I now have the Logitec G502 mouse and the  Logitec G413 keypad to complete my system.. think the addition of the mouse and keypad brought the total price up to $2500 year before last.

You need to hook me up on where you’re seeingthose kind of prices, because every 1080 I saw Was at least 900 bucks, And I looked everywhere I could find. By the way, LOL, my old card is a GeForce 9800. I refuse to embarrass this amazing machine by putting that piece of junk in it Edited by -=HipKat=-

LOL 9800 okay... You are going to be in for a TREAT when its all setup. Well, you should be able to get some semi decent frame rates using the internal graphics of the top of the line 8700K for ET and COD4. Prices that high just started about a week to two weeks ago. Once a large shipment makes its way to the retailers then prices will go right back down. Prices were normal mid November and Mid December when I bought. Every price you are seeing are bloody sucking scalpers right now.

If it comes down to it. I may let you borrow my old 570 GTX if you pay shipping both ways. It's just sitting in garage storage right now. Do not pay those scalper prices. It hurts everyone except the scum bags doing it! :)

Yeah for sure. No way I'd pay that much. No rush, it's not like I don't have a decent computer here that's done me well for the last 8 years... a few more days/weeks won't kill me

i purchased most of my stuff from Tiger direct. but did some purchases from the manufacturers.

I really like my ssd.. as i mentioned i bought the 1T size. l Before that i had the EVO 500m.. after about a year i got a message saying something that made me believe that perhaps i had a bad secter.  Now i dont think that any longer as i had a similar message on the 1T too.  What i did is i purchased a program called Acronis true image.  it allows you to make an exact "clone" of the drive.  I did that to move all my stuff from the 500 g drive to the new 1 T drive.  This program really does work and when i put in the new 1 T drive the computer booted just fine with little manipulation of the bios.  Those changes were to tell the bios which drive was the boot drive after the new ssd was installed.  SSD is much faster and it really looks like it will last about the same amount of time that the regular hard drive.  Think the 1 T drive was over $200.  All of my memory was the ddr4.  Now as money allows i look forward to building the next gen I (X) computer with the latest and greatest.  At this point my only restrictions seem to be the transfer rates over the carriers wires or what ever is used.

This case is a monstrum, have to look for parts in each separate corner;)

Pics with GPU also;)

Oh, I'll take a lot of detailed pics once the build is complete..if I can ever find the GPU I want. Everyone is sold out :(
