U need to realize u are trying to organize tournament with casual pub players who never had a scrim in their ET time, nor do majority have a slight clue how does it work, like u are comparing it with ETPro tournaments that are ongoing, every single one of those players have been around the scene for years and is perfectly known to the rules and stuffs going on to make the tournament running, getting on times for practices and matches, which is nowadays the biggest issue every team is facing. And honestly, i wouldnt call ETPro scene currently active, its pretty much at low activity as it was for the last couple of years, compared to what it used to be 7-10 years ago, where u had 15 teams on sunday evening (6on6) searching for scrims, not even mentioning 3on3's going on daily basis. Today its couple of teams playing together and having those scrims once per week when tournament is going on.

Its even clear to see activity dropping on irc channels, from over 300-500 members in 3on3 channel to over below 100 in matter of 2-3 years. Players move on, either with real life or other games, as most got bored of it and just didn't find time anymore to spend it on actively playing.

Setting up a tournament involving pub players is partly pain in the ass, since u have to explain them all the basics and even then, u won't have assurance that actually every team or member of those teams is gonna show up, then leaving u with uncompleteled lineups and such. For starters, make a 3on3 tournament via tourney,cc or any other viable tournament website, as for it, u can either make it a one day cup since its easiest to make it work, or a couple of weeks, then u have to consider, december is coming up and with that holidays, lack of time for gamin and so on.

Created more than enough tournaments in recent years to know the pain in the ass getting everything done, not to mention, u need private ETPro password protected servers, since obviously public ones wont work, if u want to get more games going on at same time, u need more servers and so on.. Feel free to organize stuffs, but don't be too dissapointed if things go sideways and ppl start being like headless chickens, as i said, making a tournament with ETpro folks is different than making it with pub unexperienced players.

When we were running scrim team back with FA 2 years ago, it was seen clearly that some members were missed out on either practice time or scrim times and that was accountable for 6 players, not to mention, u are trying to pull it out for more teams, which can bring figures up to 30+ players being all there according to their scheduled games.

Yeah this is true, but obviously people will always want to get involved from public servers who can compete just are not sure on the rules, meaning having people getting involved and helping explain the rules, hosting friendly matches set up between teams that set up to give them practise and so on.

Due too time etc, it would be ideal to have a large team of people on board with this so we can work around everyone, so for example I'm not on and someone wants too use the private server and wants some help before the tourney starts someone being there too help, and due too people not showing up? if theres a cash prize and showing up means you forfeit the match thats their own fault not anyone elses' also having a set tournament public server rotating all tournament maps in and free to use for people who are either interested in getting into etpro to practise or show of their skill.

Also if this is something that F|A wouldn't want to be involved in with the servers setting servers wouldn't be an issue for me to sort out anyway. Its only an idea, and its to see the interest in this idea, and it was based around being 3o3 games as like you said it isn't that active so having 6o6 teams and subs would mean teams being too large

I would be avi and interested in this, would be a lot of work but worth it, and also you'd attract more people from the etpro community that would want to play. Just look at the ETernal Damage Cup, they play one game every weekend where people are more likely to be online, so maybe a suggestion; is to do that instead of trying to force it during the weeks.

Yeah i can understand this just trying to bring some popularity back for the guys here who enjoy it or for others who wanna give it a go.

I did some scrims in the past too, but it was more then 5 years ago... I liked it a lot, so i'm definitely interested (although have to regain my skills:p).

Don't have experience with organizing tournaments, but to get a good scrim team i see several difficulties;

- different timezones

- becoming good takes practice, and practice and... practice... and not on your own, but as a team. You need time to discuss different strategies.

- you should be able to rely on your teammates being at their appointment.

- ....

My guess; you need a team of 4 or 7 players (1 more to fill in, in case one does not show up), that are kind of in the same timezone, that have more or less similar agendas (eg practice on friday evening, scrim at sundays), that always practise together.

Maybe, a good first step would be to create a few teams and start practising:-p

I'm interested in this too, however
