What made you continue to play ET?

Just out of curiosity what made all of you continue to play this game after all these years. I think it would be very interesting to hear everyone opinion on what made them continue to play. I personally started back in around 2007 and I have always taken breaks well playing this game but always find myself coming back too it. I find new great games all the time but there is those select few games you always come back to and this is one of them. What makes me continue to play this game is the communities within it. I love the clans and all these people that play on the same servers and you get to know one another like building friendships which I dont find in other games. I also love the meta of the game and everything about the gameplay that is just so much fun and I can honestly play for hours and hours.

Let me know all of your reasons why you all still play this game, I think it would be cool to hear from everyone

I'm definitely newer to the scene, but I must say that so far it is just the most fun I've had playing an FPS game on a consistent basis. It's so rare that I ever rage quit on ET in comparison to when I was playing Dirty Bomb or CoD4.

I also like the fact that there is always something new to learn, and you can always improve no matter how long you've been playing. Everyone has their own unique play-style and it allows you to make the game your own, which is pretty damn awesome.

Very few games give you the same vibes nowadays as well. It's nice to join your "home-server" and see all of the people you like to play with. I've met so many cool people and made good friends playing this game whereas I didn't have that kind of experience with other games whatsoever.

Modern fps games make me nauseous. I get motion sickness pretty quickly. I can't play Call of Duty on a console, and barely on pc. In ET I can play for about 2 hrs before getting sick. Also, I've been playing since 2004 and I still love it. Don't think I'll ever get really good at it, but that doesn't matter. I still have so much fun playing, and it's really cool to play against players who are really good at it. As in, 'oh look, there's the enemy...and I'm dead'.

FA is home for me.

Ive been playing since 03 on and off.

It's just a great FPS and it's nice and communal feeling.

Plus it's clean and simple.. no sluggish movements like in other games.. Like CoD4 for example is far more realistic, sluggish movement (carrying a lot of weight), bobbing when walking, etc etc etc.. but personally I don't agree with making games 100% realistic.. I think they should be FUN at any cost.. which is what ET is. It's just fun, nothing more nothing less!

Not to mention it runs effortlessly on really old hardware.

I had several breaks, uninstalled ET few times. Last break was when I played on Flame Guards (rip) with most of members here. I was gone for 4 years smthin like that, tham one day my friend (who brought me to et like 13y ago) called me on my phone and asked if I want to play crossfire match, I said hell no, after that he called me the next day like ok shall we play et again? And here I am. Eventually he quitted again, I stayed. Now I think I won't beable to play anytime soon, but still will remain active on several forums. And my et folder is with me on my usb stick lol.

Not to mention I met mamy great ppl, startimg from Method and Funky Monk from Lost legion who intrduced me with all the rules basics etc.

And also I met many members from many clan's irl, from Croatia Italy Germany Israel, most of them were on summer holiday in Croatia, and also @ my home.. So imo, this game and ppl will never die, ET is not just a game, it is a religion. For me and I'm sure mamy ppl world wide. Also tried some other games, but nothing made me feel more interesting than this. The end

I love and hate this game. Been playing almost since the beginning and before that rtcw. Only had like one 2 months break few years ago when I almost quitted the whole game. I was so tired with all the admin/leader shit at that time. So I tried assasins creed, cod and battlefield, got really bored on those and returned to et :D

Same thing I said in the Why You Play ET Thread:

What other game has trick jumping or vsays like ET? Lol

Mostly, it's the people. Not to many new players anymore. Most of us have been around for years. We have all made good friends, have many memories, a lot of fun times and experiences. We've been in different clans, played different mods, been on teams and can talk about other memorable servers and players that have come and gone.

We've played together at different times, drifted apart, then crossed paths again. No matter what your age, we have all grown up together in ET. We're a generation of gamers, no different than a generation of people who grew up in the same era, like the 60's, et al. We have that common bond.

One day, hopefully very long from now, ET will be gone, The servers will be gone, but we'll remember the first map we played (1944 Beach), the first server we were a regular on (Pizza and Beer). I'll remember the time I pwn'd sQzz in a 1v1, or when I kicked Nuggan from Nbs' pub server, thinking he was hacking. Being on TS with different players. My first ever best friend in ET; Hagster. We'll see someone on Facebook or in another game that we recognize from ET. We'll watch mAus: The Movie on YouTube or show it to our friends that never played ET (or maybe never heard of it). And we'll remember we were a part of the greatest FPS game there ever was. A game that didn't need realistic graphics, or military radio talk in the background, or maps based on current affairs in the world. A game that was really very simple in design, but perfect at the same time.

That's a big part of why I keep playing. See, I love this game and everything about it. It's a real love affair that has become ingrained in my blood, my heart and my soul. I wish I was more skilled at it, but I don't really care about that. I'm just happy that I got to be a part of it.
