I just got a amd9850 95 w cpu to replace my amd4600duel core .. an was wondering if I can just swap it or I need to flash bios first...?I know its old .. but its what I got........I would appreciate any help thank u fine sirs and ladies.... RendeL Posted September 16, 2017 Share Posted September 16, 2017 If bios is updateable, I'd switch new cpu first to avoid malfunctions as your old cpu does not support new bios. Updating it/or install speedfan (might support your mobo) and you might be able to control the fan. //EDIT: also check the bios on startup, if you can adjust the speed of fans there. cookiem0nster Posted October 9, 2017 Share Posted October 9, 2017 there are a few different programs out there to check temperatures, Piriform speccy and cpuid HWMonitor will show temps of everything, theres a few others but those are both free and decent. Rough temperature numbers you can usually go off: CPU should be close to 30-35ºC (about 90ºF) when not doing anything, and top end should ideally be 60C (140F) for your amd 9850 cpu when working at 100% load motherboard should be 30-50 depending on how hard it is working, cooler if not working hard. graphics cards should be under 70C when working, anything under 40 is fine when not storage drives should be in the 30s roughly.
