captnconcrete Posted August 19, 2017 Share Posted August 19, 2017 (edited) hello I have recently .change out my os from xp to w7 64 . problems I encountered after with et. pc spec k9a2neo mobo 8800gts 320 chip 80 not 92. 5 gigs ddr 800 6400 ram gskilll hdd swgate7200 I think. 550 rosewill pcu cpu is a tiny little 4600amd duel core. my problems are this ok first let me explain ive played et for oh 12 13 yrs.lol sad I know.lol so im not stupid on et... persay ... when I installed w7 it dls most uptodate gpu drivers ...342.1 it sucked I tried every trick in et and my fps goes way down to 30s in large areas.. before w7 I had been able to pull 500fps in et. so I went to older drivers ... game ready one 331 did nothing... for fps so I tried 285.62 seems little better but not much. my smbus wont update! in w7 . ive never flashed my bios cuz im scared id have a nice paper weight then. I can post cfg if needed .. I thought i knew all the tricks of video in et .. r prim and picmip an all the trick so ...not just a stupid setting this is really flustering me . any help would be mucho gusto appreciated .. also when I search the problems I have I find nothing but bs on forums. yes I know my pc is old but it still works . oh also I built this pc my dam self lol Edited August 19, 2017 by captnconcrete Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
DFighter Posted August 19, 2017 Share Posted August 19, 2017 well can be few things either you use a wrong /r_primitives 0 or 1 or 2/com_maxfps number run et in task manager with high priority and lower programs that use much gpu and you dont needalso your location to server can matter if you are european for example to eu servers you can reach other fps then to a us serverexample im from Europe if I join jay3 beginners 1 I can do easy 600fps, when i go to jay1 us located server I only can do max 250 fps also are your internet settings standing good ? /rate 34000 and /cl_maxpackets 100 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Haruhi Suzumiya Posted August 19, 2017 Share Posted August 19, 2017 Not sure what card that is but if it's amd do r_primitives 2 and if it's Nvidia go to your driver settings and turn off a few things. Forget which ones off the top of my head and I'm on my phone so hopefully someone will follow up my post with the settings you need to change. I was going to say to not try anything after you have been drinking alky, but then realized that you cannot do any permanent harm. It is not as if you were "messing" with hardware. I messed with it last nite a bit and didn't make any diff with r prim too 0 1 or 2 other than it lags bad at 1 . and only setting I hadent already set was negative lodbias wasn't set to clamp. al rest I already set .. I dont know .. an ever sense u gave me ur cfg at bunker kevin I used those settings ... its weird when im look straight forward solid 125 fps if I look left or right it dips bad some times. im used to solid fps 125 so 30 fps is unplayable to me . Haruhi Suzumiya Posted August 20, 2017 Share Posted August 20, 2017 Vertical sync, threaded optimization, and tripple buffering are the main ones that will give you low fps. Are you able to change those settings to off? If you don't have the option then you just need to update your drivers or install the Nvidia control center or whatever it's called. You could try different drivers too. I tried a few before settling on which ones you worked the best for ET. There's some other things that could be causing the problem too but my knowledge to troubleshoot it stops at video drivers and configuring ET. Are you sure your ET settings are being executed and saved correctly? Windows 7's user privileges can cause a lot of problems. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
captnconcrete Posted August 21, 2017 Author Share Posted August 21, 2017 well I think its due too it not saving my -1 r mode for my 1440 by 900 res I get it to actually stay an my fps is a lot more solid . now why are lights in maps on an why is it so dam dark ...lol I have everything forced to run as admin ...but It reverts my saved cfg settings weird. I like to play with it as bright as I can get so I can tell friend from foe ... an I cant get it like I had it kevin .. an ur the one who showed me how to lighten it up like 8 yrs ago .lol Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
