Windows Windows 10 Mucked my PC

Ok today i was play INSURGENCY and suddenly my pc freeze. i restarted with the power button. and boom the pc is in reboot loop.

 

i m getting option to reset , etc..

 

just like in this video : 

 

i have tried it but nothing works. only option is reset ( erase the files,apps etc.) which i dont want.

You probably have to re-install windows - with loss of files. I had the same problem, nothing worked only the re-install with loss of files with a tool for the install for windows on usb stick (empty one)- you will find it on the internet if you look for help.. if you didn't fix it before I get back from work I'll try to hit you up on steam or pm

Have been wondering, is there any error message displayed when booting? Or does it just reboot over and over?

 

Can you boot in safe mode or not?

First, I doubt this is a Windows 10 issue so saying Win 10 is to blame is immature and arrogant. Millions of people are using Win 10 without any problems (including me on a 7 yr old computer). While windows doesn't use Grub, you have file corruption including in your boot up. It may even be a problem in your Bios or hardware failure (unlikely). Did you try System Restore?

If you can boot to a Windows command prompt you can run : DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

 

If you cant boot at all you prolly need to rebuild your MBR.

 

In boot options ,select  troubleshoot, advanced options, command prompt.

 

Enter :

 

bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd

bootrec.exe /fixmbr 

bootrec.exe /fixboot 

 

If you cant boot after above then you are fffked and need to reinstall.

well i did reinstall win 10. but whenever my pc restarts or i switch on after shutdown. it goes back to the same issue.

I get boot loop quite often 2-3 times a month. If you have boot able device like USB stick or windows DVD just boot your system from that and do repair. Then you have menu, pick continue to windows/system or something like that. It's a safe boot mode so other services will be loaded after system boots. Works for me every time. Found out after like 5 times that I had to reinstall.... This error appear usually after self updates when your PC is off.

 

With that driver error in #8 post. Boot in safe mode(the one without additional services, no internet) remove all drivers then reboot. Install from HDD and get internet then(without internet to avoid windows downloading it itself). Fixed my errors as well

Your solution is not a repair. The only way to repair this problem is to discover the root cause and fix it.

 

Updates themselves don't cause this issue, both software, pirated copies of Windows, and bad hardware (such as you said "when your PC is off") can cause this exact problem.

Re-installation will actually give more work to the author of the post than repairing Windows and their drivers. I will make a topic soon about Repairing Windows Vista/7/8/10.

And yeah it's not a repair but unless is frequent it's not that troublesome.

You can access your broken PC still via 2 ways :

1) via mounting HDD to Live "Linux" USB

2) putting your HDD to other machine with working Win, this way other OS might corrupt some system files though

 

Also starting with Win8(.1) windows forces drivers with only win signature, so Shana might be right in that matter. I had to force even mobo chipset drivers manually as Windows thought it´s good to automagically fk things up.

 

In Win8.1 it´s under Control Panel\System and Security\System "Advanced System settings":

I´ve ticked all settings to manual. Then you can install your preferred drivers in peace, without windows overwriting them as it wishes.

 

Intel iGPU+ win10 sounds very familiar, some Win10 updates caused problems like I´ve heard. google it or try to install some older iGPU drivers.

If you have dedicated GPU and don´t want to use iGPU at all, then you might try to look for options in BIOS to turn iGPU off alltogether and uninstall Intel iGPU drivers.

I try to warn to start with.

 

This display driver you have installed is not functioning right just means it needs to be uninstalled or reinstalled with a version that works with Windows 10

 

In Cortana type Run hit enter type msconfig hit enter click on Startup Selection click Diagnostics Startup then reboot the PC

 

Don't have to go into safe mode to repair display driver 

 

In Cortana type Run hit enter type appwiz.cpl hit enter and uninstall the current display driver.

 

You can skip this if you did a fresh install with out using a keyloader to crack it.

You will need to stay in diagnostic mode until the MTU API is removed mainly done bye using Malwarebytes cause the keyloader injects the system with a hidden item you probably wouldn't notice.

First you have to turn hibernation off for now and then run the Anti-Malware

In Cortana type cmd then right click on command prompt and run as admins then type 
powercfg.exe /hibernate off 
and hit enter

Now go back to msconfig before rebooting and set Startup options to Selective Startup and check all the boxes below it save and reboot.

 

Now you need to install a Windows 10 Display Kernel for your laptop. If you use a Automatic Detection rule from Intel website or Nvidia you will get the same driver you just uninstalled that is made for Windows 7. 

 

If your unsure of what to get can you give the Laptop Manufacturer and Model number. Hate to stop here and not give any more but need to make sure you get the right Kernel or you will have more problems.

 

If you keep listening to people tell you to keep reinstalling windows might as well just throw the laptop in the trash.
