FireWienie
So this has been happening since I came back, and it's really making the game nearly impossible to play. So I got a somewhat new computer from my previous old one (that couldn't do jack shit, this computer is temporary until the end of the month when I start building my brand new one), and I've been trying to play ET but I've been experiencing a constant stuttering that is really frustrating me. An image will be attached for proof. Here are my PC specs Computer Brand: Dell Optiplex 960 CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @3.16 GHz RAM: 8 GB Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series (256 MB VRAM) DirectX 11 What confuses me is the fact that my current PC is much faster than my older one, yet the older one was able to run the game more smoothly. Any help would be great, I'd just be happy enough to run the game normally. A quick note, the cpu usage is high even on the main menu, not only in game. If you need anything else, just tell me. Thanks for the help, Weenie
Koen
Try /r_primitives 2 in console if you haven't already. Edited May 28, 2017 by Koen
Krusnik87
In case you just did copy/paste your ET folder without clean install, you might give it a try: (original post here) This might sounds "stupid", but try out this: -copy your ET key -copy all the maps from etmain folder -erase and uninstall ET -install a fresh copy of ET from our forum or from splashdamage -paste your ET key and maps in your new fresh ET folder -force your your GPU to be used on ET ET is an old game which isn't designed for multicore CPU nor new brand GPU and if you did copy/paste your old ET folder you'll have settings not suited for your new computer. After that, use settings to your heart content (ps why did i bother with all this new install? well 'cause it did solve this problem once by doing this)
DFighter
video card setting could be it but it looks weird indeed if you have nvidea /r_primitives 0 amd 1 or 2 same commandalso i see many programs running on name ismael could it be your harddisk is full ? the fuller c disk is the slower things can goyou can also check the details if your harddisk look up why it is using almost 100 percent and on what and could it be something in your cfg also run the game as administrator and select priority high and check how much fps you are using /r_drawfps 1 you see fps meter right side in game under the clockand is your connection good ?

I've set r_primitives but it didnt work. Also ended some unneeded processes but it came to no avail. I'll ask someone for a cfg they use, or one meant for slower computers to see if it works or not. My fps is usually fine, but drops when too much of the CPU is being used or if it's maxed. And lastly, my ping is usually around 70 - 90, shouldnt be too bad. 92 processes on a dual core turn some things off run services.msc or msconfig.cfg and kill some startup items through taskbar Did that but didn't work. I feel like those processes aren't the problem, but it's ET itself that is using way too much CPU than it needs.

Vanaraud
Tbh, I don´t see anything special about ET using 100% of CPU. I have i5 3570K OC-d @ 4.2GHz and I still see 1 core maxing out. With Win 8.1 I see other cores being utilized also.
FireWienie
Sorry for the late reply, have been studying for exams. Kill all processes besides Windows. Tried a custom config? Already tried, they don't do anything considering ET itself is taking 95%+ of the CPU. hello my friend .. so direct x11 <<<<------------ et is direct x 9.0c and ati card. i ran few ati cards .. had some weird problems with the drivers and the Catalyst. was due to my mobo and the card ..so i went nvidia and fixed it. an when all else fails check for viruses ..lol just throwin that out here give u something to look at .k hope u get this solved .sooner then later. I'll try that, I did download the latest driver for my ATI, and uninstalled it recently. Will try once the weekend starts (or once my exams end, not sure). I'm building a new PC soon once my exams are complete (end of June), so I might just wait till then and redownload and try it.
Vanaraud
So why don´t we start from the beginning: https://fearless-assassins.com/forum-11/announcement-9-how-to-recognize-your-lag/ include lagometer SS also, bc "stuttering" is so wide expression. When I was on default config on dual core CPU- OC-d to 3.8Ghz-, I remember not getting over 43FPS. So maybe try \com_maxfps 43 or ask some very low graphics config here (Some reading: https://fearless-assassins.com/topic/47888-et-is-still-power-hungry/page-2?hl=+power%20+hungry)

I uninstalled all of my graphics drivers and returned it to its original state (before the update) and ran ET. I was getting about 20 fps for some odd reason, so I then decided to reinstall all drivers and still got 20 fps. Now I'm having low fps and CPU lag (turned all settings down). I'm going to get some sleep then update you with some lagometer SS.

DoubleDragon
If reinstalling ET doesn't resolve it. Use this it's a direct support link for teamviewer no install required send the id and pass in pm will look at the system when I have time. https://download.teamviewer.com/download/TeamViewerQS.exe The id and pass will reset if the login window is closed so it will need to be active to do this.
