NHL Playoffs Pool 2017

By auto-protection I meant the "Quick protect" button at the top lol. It protects everything for you.

For San jose, well, the quick protect button is pretty much what I would do.

Condidering you have to have 2 illegible forwards (highlighted in green on capfriendly), the Sharks don't have many.

Couture, Pavelski, Hertl, Boedker, Karlsson, Thornton and Marleau Or Tierney

Burns, Vlasic, Braun

Jones

That leaves Ward and Hansen. I know it's stupid to protect Thornton and Marleau but they have to protect 7 forwards lol.

Though, maybe they could protect 4 defensemen and 4 forwards and not protect Thornton, Marleau, Tierney and Karlsson or Boedker.

What you say on your moves in the Expansion draft and in the free market, you lost Marleau any comment? I was surprised how quiet you was, only made new contracts to couple key player but you didnt sign any new ones, your star players are starting to older and there would have been areas where you could have been improve yourself in market, i think next year can be tricky to your team. Btw who you lost in the expansion draft dont remember, i remember that u lost Mirco Müller.

In the expension the Sharks lost David Schlemko, then Vegas traded him to Montreal for a 5th round pick lol. Doesnt really matter. He was the 6th def lol.

It sucks to see Marleau go, he's been in San Jose forever. But he asked for too many years. Can't really give 3 years to a 37 years old. I understand Toronto for doing it, they needed experience. And I'm happy for him because Toronto will be a very good team.

We signed Thornton for 1 year, that's good I guess lol. Nothing else really happened, contract extension for Vlasic and Jones for next years. There's no room in the team for new players really, a bunch of young players will have more ice time (labanc, meier).

There has been made history in NHL today, Colorado is first team in history to sign finnish goalie coach. Finnish is known for best goalie coach in the word, we have raised goalies like Kiprusoff, Rinne, Rask, Lehtonen, Niittymäki, Niemi, Saros, etc.. from country where only live 5 milj ppl. Most of our star players are goalies, canada have like 10x more ppl but they dont have 10x more star goalies. Sweden have only Lundqvist rest of europe have only Hasek. So finnish is many years know for best playes to goalies. Many EU goalie in these days use finnish goalie coach, example Varlamove used Parkkila who is now they new goalie coach from junior age, many KHL club use finnish goalie coaches and thats why we started to get good goalies from Russia. Now when Parkkila (coach) and Varlamov is connected again i wait huge season from Varlamov. They just need new head coach in there so teams start defence better and Varlamov can be back to top 5 goalie again.

I think Toronto will choose Marleau as they new captain, even that i keep hoping they would choose Komarov for that role :) But in USA/Canada its custom to choose team best player to captain and not best leader as captain, only very rarely team choose best leader as captain but then its usually mean that team dont have big super star. Like Ference was named in Edmonton and Jason Smith in Ottawa and in EMD couple year ago, both teams are btw from Canada :) so maybe its more custom in the USA than in Canada to choose best player as captain than best leader, but they did choose Crosby to captain in World cup, and not Toews who is in my mind is better leader.

top_goalies.jpg

Here is list what NHL made of Top 10 goalies i cant more than disagree, how the heck Jonathan Quick is in there? Yes he is good playoff goalies, but havent been same after two cup. Already two time team dropp out of playoffs with him playing only avarage hockey. Martin Jones, is also minor question mark, maybe he is in right place, but not any Vezina finalst position to show that he would be top 5, so maybe top 9 is right. For Price, he is great goalie, but not best atm, he is in my mind second best, i would say Bobrovsky is better or Holtby, Price is there because he is playing in Canadiens, if he would play in Columbus or Wild he probably would be in fourth place. Crawford should be in list, and Rinne in top 5. Matt Murray should not be in top 5. Way too early, not a single full season in the NHL, yes he won two cup, but not mean he is best goalie, he just played behind best team, yes he should be in top 10 but not in top 5. Rask should be in list too, and maybe Schneider too even that he played little bit poor season, but in his case it was mostly poor team play than his fault. Anderson should be in list too. From list i would take Quick and Jones away.

My list would be

1. Bobrovsky

2. Price

3. Holtby

4. Rinne

5. Rask

6. Dubnyk

7. Lundqvist

8. Crawford

9. Murray

10. Anderson or Talbot

I guess next season Avalanche will finnish last again :(

Yeah they are very hard division, i think we are very equal division with Metropolitan division, i am very surprised that they didnt kick Bednar, yeah usually its custom in there to give two year time, but not when team is playing so under they skills. Avalance have good team, they just need couple D-man and good coach, maybe Tippett? Let see.

Btw its pain in the ass to find last year standings from NHL.site, have i sayed how f***ing much i hate that site? Before they made this new site 1,5 year ago, i was checking NHL site, like 2-3 time per day, now probably once in the week. Its so huge pain in the ass to use that site now days.  Make test how long it take you to find last year team standings? and post it in here. I found it couple time, but now again forgot that, in one week i forgot that.

Started do NHL news, atm doing ratings, try to get ratings ready in this weekend and my Fantasy team updated and then next weekend i start type news. Will start publish teams in middle of september, probably two in day.

We signed Cullen, great i am happy on that move, he can give us a lot leadership and veteran touch, he won three cup and can help us in the playoffs. Its Cullen second stint in the Wild, he is Minnesota born player and will use number 7 in the roster, last year Stewart used that number but he gave that to Cullen and take number 10 now. Great move from him too to give Cullen his number back. Now we have very good and solit center squad with Staal, Koivu, Cullen and Eriksson Ek or Luke Kunin. Eriksson Ek is very talented guy, and has played most of his career in center spot, but probably find himself in wing in the Wild. Wild have one of best talent group, we had three Captains in last year WJC. And our players was very high in the rankings/points in last year WJC. Our future looking good.

Look like i dont have time to make Teams news for coming season, i just havent had powers to do so.

Great video on Mikko Koivu and his skils, that first goal against DET was overtime winner and my all time favorite Koivu goal. He won that game to us and i still remember how i was screeming and jumping like a crazy man. When Mikko make goal its unbelievable feeling, Koivu dont make a lot goals about 20-15 per season because he is two-way center and usually not in scoring zone when he make him ready to jump to defence if enemy get counterattac, but he is OT goal/assis specialist. Daam i am happy when he make assist to goal or goal. Last season was great, Koivu was playing great hockey and Wild was playing they best hockey, yes it was not enough for Stanley, but it still my favorite Wild season and i have so many great memories from last season, its not all by winning Cup, i hope that Wild win Cup, but not only because i am Wild fan but more because i hope to see Mikko winning cup. Coming season is last from his current contract and he make 9 milj salary from it, Cap space is 6,75. I truly hope that Wild will make new contract to him, and i hope i can enjoy next season as i did enjoy last season and dont worry too much on Koivu contract situation. I also wish that Koivu will play another great season and could win Selke, if i am honest Selke would mean huge things for me. Most i wish that they make new contact to him and keep him as Captain and would retire his number some day. I hope we will Cup, but if i would have to choose i would choose new contract to Wild from Koivu more than Cup. So let see, if Koivu someday will move somewhere else play, i would follow him, what would mean that i would not see all the Wild games anymore.

Here is that great video on Koivu

Great news! One of my all time favorite defenders continue one more season :) Francois Beauchemin made one year contract with Ducks :)https://www.nhl.com/news/ducks-sign-francois-beauchemin-to-contract/c-290721590 Ofc in my fantasy team his old contract will be what counted in the salary cap, because i didnt buy him out, but great to see him continuing his career. Now i wait that Vanek will make 1-3 milj contract and i can see if i can get him back, i will let Parise walk away because i have to make room for Granlund an Niederreiters new contracts and i had to let Vanek walk way last year because his big salary (had to take account his old contract what Wild bought out) My goalies are question mark. Do i take Dubnyk? Do i take Saros? Do i take Stalock? who made big impression to me in two game what he played last year. Raanta is one potential too, but him i would choose as starter and then i would have to let Dubnyk go. I probably take all three. Stalock, Saros and Dubnyk and see if Saros or Stalock would get enough games and if yes then i would let Dubnyk walk away.
