Connection Issues: Just installed Legacy today

Hi Everyone,

I was huge ET player back in its day, and I was super excited when I found out today that there is still a community to play with. However, it seems like most of that community is on your servers, and I am having connection issues on both recruiting and hardcore servers. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I REALLY want to play again.

Specs:

Operating System: Windows 10
CPU:  AMD FX-8350
RAM:  16GB DDR3
Motherboard:  Gigabyte AM3+, DDR3, idk for sure, its the oldest hardware I have
Hard drive (IDE, PATA, SATA, etc):  1TB SSD, 500GB HDD  (Both SATA)
Graphics card: GeForce GTX1070
Graphics card driver version:  Its factory OC, but idk for sure
Wifi: No using wifi for this system
Your location (country):  USA
Router Name (If you use any):
Which anti virus and firewall you use: Just using windows defaults

Speed Test Results:

11ms - 60.10 MB/s down - 6.54 MB/s up

I don't really know anythign about networks, or how to resolve packet loss, but it looks like I have an issue I think? At the second point there is No response from host it looks like? Idk.

This is my WinMTR results for the Recruiting server:

I forgot to actually describe the issue I'm having in game. I can connect to the server fine, but when I get into the server, I almost immediately get the connection interrupted warning that flashes on your screen, and I can't play, but I can see everyone moving around on the map though it looks very laggy.

Hi DFighter,

I tried your suggestion as well, no luck, I tried 0, 1, and 2. I also set com_maxfps to 60 with no luck.

Also, I changed the properties to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode as administrator.

If anyone has suggestions, feel free to let me know. If I made a clip of me doing these steps and joining the server, do you think that would help?

Nothing running in background that might draw off on your connection? Set Windows Update on manuel in the services, run scans with antimalware tools and let us know if it improved things.

Also make sure than you graphic driver is up-to-date.. Otherwise, here is the latest release: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/116344/en-us

Once done.. Open the Nvidia panel and disable vsync and threaded optimisation.

I'm curious about why people use Legacy when from what I've read, it just causes problems for a lot of people.

I've used for a few years now the one from our own Downloads section perfectly. It has everything you need in one installer

In case the Auto Rate is set to Server Max change it you will have to set rate manually again. But these two items Antilag and Auto Rate will cause the connection interruption. Edit: This is in Jaymod - Misc almost forgot.

Incase you want to try I dont know maybe hardcore has these I don't know but these are it.

cg_delag "0"

cg_autoRate "0"

If this doesn't work check your isp connection with http://www.speedtest.net/ or some other site that provides network up and down speeds.
