Well, it seems it is very easy to strip most of them, but since a parody is supposedly a good reason to kick someone... here we go  buhbye fred

If you're going to seriously compare the vocals of Bruce Springsteen to Freddie Mercury...there is no hope for your ears.

Bruce Springsteen cannot sing a tune...he growls and screams.

Seriously.

You still want to keep your pick with Freddie Mercury?

First of all: thank you for your sound critisism of my taste and choices.

Second: I found no reason in your dismissal besides a video in where one counts, and shows some gimmicks one uses in their performances. I thought... if that is the criterium to choose to kick singers: who is the master of gimmicks? So that made the choice easy.

But ok... now on the content. In my opinion growling and screaming are a good part of the singing arsenal of a ROCK singer. And examples of Springsteen singing (in tune)  are abundant. So that makes him complete. Also a carreer that is now already lasting 45 years, in which he wrote and sang a immense array of particularly great rock-songs makes him very qualified. What is even more remarkable: he still sings, rocks and growls live on stage on a very regular basis, in a 3 hours or more show in which he stays on tune, captures the audience and can still give meaning and content to songs that are sometimes even from the 70ties, but also from the 2000s. There is no one that has even come close to give and maintain those kind of performances.

Not on the account on singing... but I find the songs of Springsteen having also a lot more content than the songs of Freddie.

Ok last: I do find Freddie Mercury one of the greatest singers that ever lived. But I do not qualify him as a rock singer pur sang. For me he represents popmusic, not rock. Although he had some of the greatest rocksongs I  am also taking in account songs like Barcelona, The great pretender, i'm going slightly mad e.g. , . In my opinion (and I state again.. in MY opinion ;) ) he became too much pop. And if popmusic would have been the criterium he would have been my number 1 choice, no doubt. Ofcourse there are more singers in this list which I think do not belong here, but in pop (Sting, Steward, Elton John e.g.) but I just started with the biggest fish.

So I think: you kicked out the person that maybe qualifies best here as a rock singer, I kicked out the best pop singer. Maybe rethink your criteria too? ;)

Scott Weiland - It's getting tougher to make picks but I'm going with Scott. Great band and great songs but not really a great voice. Layne Staley may have been a better choice to represent Grunge that Scott Weiland

Angela Gassow is one of the best female Death Metal singers ever, but no legend. Besides, I'm pretty sure she sings through processors and mad effects

Every time I hear his voice on the radio my ears bleed and a part of me dies a little inside. Never could understand why so many people like him but the only list David Bowie belongs on is the worlds worst singers list.

Ok, just to not cause a lot of controversy again: Elton John has been thanked and sent to the list of pop/singers. He was never a rock singer.

Well this list has for certain a lot more to throw away than to keep. But to make choices easier for folks: bye bye Serj Tankian. That dude can not, really can not, sing in tune live. Saw him, total disaster, total distaster. True.
