So i this old laptop is about dead, but I cant afford to get a new one for the foreseeable future. I wanted to try and use a cfg to see if I can at least get a playable fps. Right now im holding at no higher then 18 fps. and it drops fast. Any suggestions other than blow up my laptop and get a new on.

There's a few things you can do, but ultimately buying better hardware will solve your issue. Try dropping your settings as low as you can go. Turn off shadows, and other things you can play without. Play at a lower resolution. You can download http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience to optimize the game for you if you don't want to do it manually. You also could try to OC your hardware, but that'll only do so much. I use MSI Afterburner to control my GPU, and it allows you to OC. You can download it here https://www.msi.com/page/afterburner.

AMD offers a CPU overclocking tool called OverDrive, and you can download it here http://www.amd.com/en-us/innovations/software-technologies/technologies-gaming/over-drive.

The only other thing I can recommend is closing out of everything besides COD4 when you play and if you are running an older version of Windows, setting COD4 to a higher priority in the task manager.

thanks. I had a bunch of stuff set up before that i was getting atleast playable fps. But that was so fragmented and done as people suggested it that I have no idea what all was done anymore. Then i had a system issue and now im back to shit fps. The weird thing is all my settings stayed the same, but it just runs like crap

Are you using the latest geforce drivers, the 8200mg is still supported. Make sure you turn off multithreading in the settings (there might be a few others as well, I cant remember them and cant just check anymore as I dont have my trusty old laptop) as some of them do actually decrease fps in ET.

Ha, I came from the ET section just before, and then randomly blanked that I wasn't anymore :S

The drivers part is still relevant at least :)

Need to find out if the processor is solder'd on if it's not this would replace it the pin count is correct the Socket type is S1 this is a match also a Quadcore there is one for 8$ less on ebay but it probably wouldn't have a return policy. Most times this is the problem. Just a thought there could be other ways but this would be the choice I would consider.
