windows Windows 10 - Windows Instller

So I've had this problem for about 2 months now.

Basically Windows Installer does not work period.

 

Here's what I've tried so far:

- Go to services, set to manual/auto, restart/start service. 

( The funny thing about this is, when I start it and it runs perfectly, As soon as I try to install something it turns off again)

- Tried to get a new copy of msi...exe but access denied.

- Changed all permission to Full control for all users/accounts

- Delete the D-word reg key for Windows Installer

- Add new reg keys

- Elevated cmd - unregister, register

- Safe Mode

- Full system scan for viruses McAfee, Avast & Avg

- Tried everything above with Hidden Admin account

- System restore to a date much earlier - but always fails on any point

- Tried reinstalling all C++ redistributals but it always fails.

 

Also, If something doesn't use windows installer, it install the program fine but when I try to open it I get the error

"Side-by-Side configuration is incorrect"

 

So I don't really want to factory reset/reinstall windows but it looks like i might have to

Try this:

 

Run command prompt as administrator

 

sfc /scannow

 

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

 

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

 

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

You can also download the windows 10 iso image official from microsoft and make a bootable usb drive and install or upgrade your windows with that. but i preefer windows 7 because windows 10 is a Spying Operating system

almost all recent Win Os's are.. Win7 included. You're only unaware. Still, almost all tracking\spying services can be disabled.. Even in win10. So, I wouldn't base my choice on this criteria.

I still searched and searched but still no solutions, and sadly it is common. 

I tried Anton's & Annibal's suggestions but doesn't work either. 

I'm 80% sure it is a registry issue along with windows 10 os

I plan on trying to factory reset just the os and keep my files & apps. But that seems to be a problem with Win10 as well.

In the end, im just gonna backup everything and format the whole drive. Start fresh & wait for new problems

Considering all what you have already tried, and what the error affects (essential functionality), I would strongly suggest you reformat the partition and install a new copy of windows. Even if you somehow "repair" it, it could lead to new problems, possibly even leading to a completely unusable system (then you must do it anyway).

 

After you install and configure system as you like it, make a backup image of it, so you  can quickly restore your complete system.

Did just that and more!

Saved all my files on external hard drive, but scanned them before transferring just in case.

Made usb copy of windows 8 (laptop's oem os), booted up from that

Deleted all partitions and wrote over the free space for squeaky clean hdd

Created new partitions, Reinstalled windows

Updated all drivers/bios/chipset.

Laptop is running smoother than a baby's butt cheek lol which is expected of course.

 

So in the end, if anyone runs into this series of problems, I recommend a fresh install!
