I had a nightmare till I was 11, always the same dream. I was in my parents old house, was climbing up the stairs going in my bedroom, and some ugly old lady in white dress covered with blood and with a knife in her hand was following me upstairs. When I ran into my room and slammed the doors behind me sudenlly i hear church bells, followed with a sound like someone's shaking a jar full of coins and then I would wake up, ofc covered in sweat and heart bumping like crazy. A changed 3 therapists couse it was literally every night and my parents were super worried. Than after sometime when I actually realised I have been supressing memories of my biological mother and talked straight all about with the last therapist, I have never ever had a nightmare again..well at least not as half as scary as this one lmao. :)

I rarely remember my dreams, but talking about dreams... I was reading something on the Internet about why some people remember dreams and others don't, then someone wrote a comment saying there's also a different kind of dream you can trigger with some techniques, and I though yeah, sure, bs, etc. etc.

Then one morning when I was half asleep and still in bed, I tried said technique thinking it was bs, but in less than 1 minute - while I was still thinking I was awake, and no way that it would work - my ears started ringing and I heard my heartbeat in my ears then I felt like a switch into another reality, where I was still in bed but obviously something was different.

And this switch wasn't really a pleasant experience, it was like being sucked into another reality, really. Then I noticed I couldn't move at all, like it happens in some nightmares. And I thought, keep calm, it's just a dream, don't try to move or it will be worse. And then I managed to wake up.

When at night I had to go to sleep again (because that was in the morning the same day) I was a bit afraid that it could happen again, since you know, when you are afraid of something happening, your brain will trigger it :) and indeed during the night while I was dreaming I don't remember what, I was paralized again, and this time on top of that I heard creepy voices whispering and calling me all around. Same thing, I thought, f*** this, it's a dream. Don't try move and wake up.

Then I stopped worrying about this and it didn't happen again, but to think that I triggered it myself lol... I would never do that thing again, just normal dreams please :)

its happened a few times in the past..

i would be in the middle of doing something i hadn't done before and then i would realize, i had a dream about it before. maybe a couple of weeks or months earlier.

like being in an unfamiliar place at the time, or meeting someone i had never met before.

funny thing is it would be almost exactly as i had dreamed/remembered it. every detail down to knowing what would happen next couple of minutes.

just plain weird

I like this topic :o

Last dream I had was about hockey and being with my boyfriend doing fun stuff

Also had some crazy dreams that creep you out, but in the end if you think about it, it totally doesn't make sense and then the creepy weird feeling goes away, those re-occuring dreams are fun too

So weird how dreaming works, have also read that there are people who can "guid/influence" their dreams in some way as sunlight explained, I don't think I'll ever try to do that though :)

Sounds like you just closed off your vertebrobasilar artery for a minute and simply had a little oxygen issues up high. Blood pressure increases as the heart tries to get some up there, and the remaining carotis artery (which supplies the ear, among other things) is where the increased blood flow goes through.

Science.
