I quit smoking

Here is how I quit.

Buy yourself some BlackJack gum or black licorice sticks.  Chew it up before you smoke.  Dont drink anything.

Then light up a smoke.  After you quit gagging and trying to throw up, you will notice the foulest taste in your mouth you ever had.

Keep doing that for about a week.  Then try to light up a smoke without the licorice.  You will notice your stomach rolls over before

you inhale.  That's the beginning.  Your brain will not accept that cigarette anymore as a good thing.  I have been done with cigs

since 1992, when I did this.  Even the smell of cig smoke produces a sickening in my stomach.

Best of luck buddy.

Been smoking for almost 40 years and couple of weeks I decided stop buying.

Stopped smoking for 6 weeks now, and damn it is hard, i am still craving for nicotine,

Never knew it was that difficult, every cup of espresso/coffee is a disaster.

Every glass of liquor makes me crave for a smoke. Beer is a no-no same story.

Cant even play ET anymore without a smoke.

Pathetic isn't it?

BTW. Mrs. Anton is happy, she hates the smell of cigarettes and cigars and

already spend the 100$ I saved.

I thought I could never quit. I thought smoking would be the thing that kills me and I just accepted that. Now after 2 years I cant imagine ever smoking again. Sure it was hard, but not as hard as you would think. Once the decision is made and you stick to your guns its easy. Yes I still get cravings when I see someone smoking or smell it, but now I just feel so thankfull that I'm not a slave to nicotine anymore. I did the math, I have saved around $7000 so far, and no doubt added years to my life.

wow. I remember this post from 2 years ago. Thats awesome that you keep us updated!

great job bro. Now it is just a question of never ever trying it again...

I made a mistake some months back and had a cigar with a friend. Man that urge to smoke another one still haunts me. The brain tells you that it is ok to smoke another one...

never ever again. nothing ever! basta

This thread just made me light up a smoke...........

What a funny guy. Hilarious.

Took me 40 years to finally quit. Not exactly something to crack a joke over

Kudos to the rest of you for having the gonads for quitting. It is one of thoughest things in life to accomplish and some never have the ability to quit.

It WAS a joke but in reality, it's killing me that I can't quit. I hate every cigarette I light up and hate myself for not being able to stop

i understand you meant it as a joke...was just bad timing on your part.

to quit smoking, you have to want to quit. deep inside. knowing full-well its the best thing for your life. otherwise you wont try as hard and will eventually give up

It is indeed really hard to stop smoking.

SOme says "come on man, everything is in that head of yours, just stop already"....

More easely said than done.

In my case I'm still using my e-cig with now 6mg of nicotine instead of 15mg two months ago.

(FYI: when i started 10 years ago i used to smoke 2 paquets of cigarettes per night... aye, was working during the night at this time, and then went to university during daytime >.> )

  • 3 weeks later...

I have smoked 12 years of my life and after my third try to quit I succeeded.

Also what I did was smoking less and less and less heavy too, also I needed to quit smoking cause the length on wanting a smoke became shorter and shorter.

Also even when I was asleep I would wake up after a few hours and needed a smoke just cause of the nicotine.

And after a while I also had a guilty feeling over myself everytime I smoked that first cigarette in the morning and thought to myself what the hell am I actualy doing to my body, So that's how I started to think I should realy quit it.

There was also the downside I became less and less healthy not with my lungs but with my heart doing funny which was very annoying, even kneeling I would had to put my teeth together cause I felt lack of oxygen well you know what I mean.

I am now about almost 2 years smoke free and I have no regrets, My tip if you every get the need you want to take a smoke, try to smoke some weed just pure in a pipe or bong not everyday or every month just when you feel the need you can't take it anymore and you realy want to smoke, (for me that was sometimes after 4 or 5 months) a cigarette again those memories etc.

I wish you all good luck on breaking the habit and don't forget it also is having something in your hand and those rewards for yourself like oh I did a good job at cooking or I did a good job at work or I played a good game today now I deserve a smoke.

Another tip what I did just when I quit smoking a few days in the beginning was I used alot of candy to eat lollipops alot cause those things feel like cigarettes the most cause you have something in your mouth that will keep you going for a hour if you not just break the lollipop.

Then also try to some different sweets like liquorice and winegums after everyday you used candy to fill the need instead of a cigarette you get tired of the candy eventualy and then you can feel that alot of the smoking habit is over.

I will stop typing now else it gets a bit long.
