Balance system on Nq3.

It's been about 3 weeks already since the new team balancing system was established on Nq3. I find this period of time long enough to sum up experience from using this system and conclude that it has failed.

In my opinion it's even a greater pain in the neck for admins than stackers themselves. It requires much more actions to make teams even and frequently makes it just impossible tho keep them balanced if there are no admins on server. Very often bots 'block' teams, thus even if a player is willing to join a right team, but there is no admin to put a bot on opposite side, this player has to stack.

That's why I'd recommend to restore the previous system, which made teams at least 6 vs 6 automatically or fix the current script.

Map voting is going to get removed from NQ #3 and new stuff is going to be added on it. People are voting for super larger maps when there are just 10 players on server.

New one would be same like we have on NQ #1. As player count increases larger maps will be loaded.

PS No fixes to resolve the issue where added on NQ #3. Fixes where being tried on Jay2 and so far it had worked 80% of time. Fixes will be moved to NQ #3 pretty soon.

Sounds extremely disappointing.

I still can't get why just few players can't play on big maps.

I like voting for maps over set rotation as well. Can we vote (start a poll) for voting? :P

as there are some maps that usually clean the server from players i would still like to have a voting option there.

but i would understand if the options for voting change with player count

Having maps change according to the number of players is a great idea. However removing map voting might not be such a great idea.

Even if we get new maps there are for sure going to be maps a lot of ppl do not like. Having the voting option at least gives us a chance to avoid the 'worst' maps.

Now... combining the map voting with the possibility to vote for larger maps when more players are on.... That would be a stroke of genius.

Removing map voting actually could be a good idea because then maps can't get overplayed and in the end it's harder to get bored of them the only negative thing is that really boring maps are going to be played but to be honest baserace is the only crowd killer.

We have that on silent mod servers but NQ is closed source and I am not part of NQ dev team so I can't do much.

I have been watching NQ #3 since last few months and so far there has been no success in increasing population on server. I have hardly seen more then 20 players on it and that tells me there might be something wrong because even though we provide fair game play, anti cheat which no other NQ server has, etc.. we can't make it popular server.

That means majority players don't like what it is and since last few weeks I observed big maps get voted and new players leave server after that.

Off course nothing is permanent and if it doesn't work out we will move back to voting but we at least got to try something to make it popular.

Player based maps worked out pretty good on NQ #1 and hence we will be trying same on NQ #3.

Well, I'll say why I find vote system important.

First of all I have my own preferences and my own favourite maps in ET (as well as the overwhelming majority of us). So, for example when I come in evening and have only 1 hour to play, I can't wait eternity until my favourite map appears (moreover, with a system when maps are loaded according to the number of players, it can just never appear). So I find it very important to let players decide on their own, which map they want to play next.

sometimes ...not always i vote for a map ...when it comes ..lol i am happy :P ,stay and play........

so imo   voting must be enabled...:P  specially when there are less players and to big maps come to play .....then i am glad that i  am able to vote for smaller maps

ty ...with frendley regards ...me!

I understand the reasons daredevil. New players might not like our map choices. We often vote for big maps because we like to play et like that: we like one on one fights, playing for the objective with only 3 players etc. Some new players go 'wtf' about the way things go on nq3. Regulars however, love the way it goes and have been used to it since a long time. Some people only connect for playing MLB daybreak twice, spec the rest of the time and then wait another day to do the same thing again.

I'm a bit afraid of losing regulars by this rotation, instead of new players. Just my opinion. I'm not the experienced guy, If you think this might populate the server, I fully support that :)

The beauty of Nq3 comes from the people that play there. You cannot find a server with such a great atmosphere anywhere. In my opinion removing map voting can flush those mentioned regulars out, hell it could even flush me out. I love how the Nq3 goes, it became my temple of ET and I tremble when i think it could all be gone

Loosing those few faithful regulars is not worth getting more newcomers, quality over quantity,

That is completely true, RedAngel actually hired me to notify via xfire her whenever Daybreak gets chosen for a next map

all of this was my personal opinion
