I'm trying to find books in pdf of Tor Ulven... and the english translations are just minumum :C

Is too hard to learn norsk, having a basis in german?

Regards from a chilean interested in Norway's Poetry  :P

Norwegian is a germanic based language so knowing german should make it easier to learn norwegian.

I think some of his books have been translated to english and german, but getting them as pdf is a low chance.

Bigger chance getting them as hard copy I think. I can search some norwegian bookstores to see if they got some in english or german.

Found a E-book: Replacement (his only novel)

E- book: http://bokkilden.no/SamboWeb/produkt.do?produktId=10360378

Hardcover: http://bokkilden.no/SamboWeb/produkt.do?produktId=6769136&rom=MP

Paperback: http://bokkilden.no/SamboWeb/produkt.do?produktId=6769137

I also manage to find a Master Thesis about Tor Ulven that might interest you (english).

only problem is that the poems are in norwegian, and when you translate norwegian to english everything changes (sentence, structure) so it becomes a different poem.

If you are still interested about Tor Ulven's works and if you don't mind learning a new language, I suggest you try to learn norwegian.

You sparked my interest for this poet. Never heard of him before, but after reading a few poems and reading abit about him I like him. So for my own interest and of course yours, I will see if I can find something more. If you have any favourite poems from him I can try to translate them, but I don't think it will give Tor Ulven justice enough if they are in english, but atleast knwoing the meaning of the poem is always good.

btw found this on youttube:

Will search some more after work.

nice!

I already read that master thesis... and yeah, is available in Amazon the english translation of Replacement (the miniature symphony)

I find Tor Ulven thanks to the Joachim Trier's film, Reprise (2006) and my personal interest of Schopenhauer's influence

Thanks for the dedication and help.

Saludos desde Chile!

I like norwegian language. It's so subtle. It reminds me of my own language, but more sophisticated in some way.

How would you say I love you in norwegian? And how do you type the O with a slash with a normal keyboard?

Would also love a female person to answer this, hint hint ;)

I am so happy that you are all so interested in the Norwegian language, it is a fascinating subject indeed  ^_^

I love you would be: Jeg elsker deg
Important point though, you do only use this for romantic love in Norwegian, you would not say it to your friends or family.

I do not really know how to make "Ø" with a stupid foreign keyboard. The Swedish write it Ö which should be possible on any keyboard.

Jeg elsker deg ållemåul!

Or that might be a bit wrong if it's only for romantic purposes...

So Ø and ö are the same? Swedish ö=norwegian Ø? Because if I'm not mistaken, the Danish use them both :)
