Enemy territory hard freeze

Hi there guys,

I've got a fresh new build pc;

Asus RoG Maximus Hero vii motherboard
i5-4670k cpu running at 3.40ghz
8 gb corsair vengeance ram.
2 x ssd's running in raid 0
MSI GTX 770 2gb twin frozr gpu
Windows 7 sp1 ultimate.

On my previous pc ET would run fine.
Now I've done a fresh install, checked everything and even googled around for a few hours to see if I can find a solution but after about 20mins or so playing a map my pc freezes completely,
Having to then do a hard reboot. It's frustrating because when that happens it doesn't even leave a dump/log to see what's causing the issue.

Anyone of you have any advice on that?

played some ET silent mod on the FA servers and it didn't crash once.

Does the game crash? Did you checked processor use with task manager? Check also Event viewer to see if there's any errors or warnings displayed and related to ET.

processor use is only like 25-30 percent the game doesn't crash back to win desktop it just freezes completely, no ctrl+alt del. Have to reboot pc. :(

I had the same problem .. 4 weeks ago

I'll do a couple of questions

¿¿you checked the CPU temperature ???

¿¿¿ the cpu is well ventilated ??

¿¿fans are running the processor and graphics card good ???

¿It freezes you alone when you're playing another game or et also ???

¿Are you ever just to reboot normally use such as using internet, etc ???

ET is the only game that freeezes

I never have to reboot only when ET freezes.

mmmhhhhh well I think we can rule out the cpu for now ...

¿Do you already did it with a full antivirus scan ??
¿Did you do a scan or if the hard disks fail.?

How you did your fresh install of ET? I guess you had a backup from your previous rig and copied\pasted the files but maybe launched ET before pasting those files..

Whatever, try this:

1. make sure you have a backup of the files you want to re-use (etkey,config,..).

2. uninstall first Punkbuster and don't forget to delete also the hidden folder after its uninstall in: C:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\Punkbuster\ET (delete the ET folder only in case you own other games using Punkbuster).

3. uninstall ET.

4. run CCleaner and clean the registry with the allocated feature for this purpose.

5. reboot your pc.

6. run CCleaner again to make sure nothing of previous ET install was left in the registry. If it's the case repeat the process 4 and 5.

7. re-install ET & Punkbuster. Once finished, don't launch your game yet.

8. copy\past the files you backed up into your fresh install.

9. copy\past the backup of your etkey into C:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\Punkbuster\ET\etmain.

10. now you can launch your game and load your cfg.

11. connect on server and see.
