The country is stunning in it's beauty but that is overshadowed in many areas with the poverty that you mentioned and political corruption. I will not return there again as my acquantance that lived there was murdered in his restaurant in downtown Quito by street thugs for just a few dollars. Super Sniper's post could not have said it any better....so rather than try any further...I'll simply say "ditto". Cicione Posted March 31, 2014 Share Posted March 31, 2014 I have been to Guayaquil as well...a very dangerous place. I was advised by the airline and hotel NOT to leave the hotel and walk around!
