Hey guys,

I've been using Go SMS Pro for about a year now, and I've been getting more and more fed up with it with each update. From now having to pay for themes, to their proprietary MMS format (with the latest update), the ads that started popping up when they introduced "premium", and changing their Go Messaging (which was actually pretty cool) to something else that I absolutely hate.

Now I'm not someone who dislikes change, hell I started using Windows 8 when it was released to developers, a year before it's release- and I'm a native learner- I have yet to encounter an interface that I can't use. It's simply that these changes that are being made to Go SMS are for pure profit, and they're horrible.

So which texting app do you use and why? If there is a paid version, do you think it is worth paying for? Please vote in the poll, and give your reasons below. If your texting app isn't listed in the poll, comment with the name and reason.

Thanks a bunch guys! ^_^

I have to ask.. what features do these texting apps provide that makes them such a necessity for folks to have?

My girlfriend tried talking me into one awhile back, stating features like a new keyboard layout and appearance, swype, custom dictionary etc.. And my default texting program provides all of that, except the keyboard appearance/layout.

So what am I missing?

Well the reason why I don't use my stock messaging app is because Sprint is my carrier, and because they operate on a CDMA network, all text messages are limited to 160 characters, and I need a program that will allow me to send longer texts. I also wanted the option of backing up my text messages because I have needed to use them in court cases in the past.

I use whatsapp and kik only because internet is cheaper than ordinary SMS.

My plan would be $20 less per month if I did not have data. I've tried a few apps like kik and snapchat, which I use from time to time, though I want to make sure I can reach people any time, and considering that some of my contacts don't have mobile internet, or have crappy service, SMS that works on good ol 2g or whatever works best for me.

I use WhatsApp. I also installed it on my wife's phone because it seemed to be the easiest one to use for her, more than Hangouts or any other one that I uninstalled on his phone. Some emoticons added to WhatsApp, she likes it more again. Photos, videos, and messages easy to manage, everything is showed clearly on his screen and it's free.
