What are your thoughts on the state of the Affordable Care Act?

I remember a few years ago there were some pretty heated and lengthy discussions about the upcoming Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). At the risk of stirring the pot and pages of lengthy discussions about the pros and cons, I'm curious to find out if anyone's views have changed.I've been trying to listen to news from both left and right leaning media sources to see what the overall shift in perception has been. It's been interesting to say the least. So have your views changed one way or the other on "Obamacare"? Why or why not?

If your new to the discussion and want some background on previous conversations, here are some links to prior posts.

I blame conservatives and big government contractors for f***ing up its launch. I was reading the article about healthcare.gov and the contractors that were used to develop it. I am glad to see that same type of corporate greed is alive and well under Obama as it was under Bush. One fun fact, when healthcare.gov launched it took 40 minutes to sign up, while going through private sector it took 4-5 times that.

Despite a faulty launch, I think it is a progressive and beneficial act. This act will completely alter the healthcare system and bring the American health care system into the 21st century. Also, the media has vilified the act in a completely unnecessary manner. describing the launch as "Obama's Katrina" proves how pathetic the media is.

Hey Joe, could you clarify your statement a little more. The white house had 3 years to get this up and running, yet they are still clarifying rules and laws from the bill to this day. Also where did you get the info on how long it took to sign up on healthcare.gov vs. private sector? I haven't come across that yet.

@MelGibson: I agree with you it will completely alter the healthcare system. I haven't seen how it's going to beneficial yet though. I'm glad it's causing a change so that people have to take a hard look at the existing system b/c it needed to be revamped. I'm not sure this was the best way to do it though. The media "cloud" is a PITA to cut through to see the truth, that's for sure.

Man, you guys will swallow anything.  Affordable health care ?  What a joke.  You need to read what this act will do and what it won't do.

What it will do is make you a slave to the federal government.  You either buy it or go to jail, or have the money taken from any source they deem.

Affordable?  What a joke.  The lowest you will pay is $122 a month.  The only way to get that price is you have to be on the poor list and making

less than the federal base wage of $7.50 an hour.  So figure that out.  You don't make enough money to own a house, or have a nice apartment.

You barely eke by every month on what you make.  You have to have a some kind of roommate to make the rent and eat and pay the bills.  But

Obama says you have to have insurance so you must pay $122 every month or pay the consequences.  Now, here is the backside of this nonsense.

If you are an illegal alien, making less than $7.50 an hour.  You get free healthcare.  And not the cheap one, you get the best one.  The best coverage

you can get right now is $359 a month.  If you are a single parent with a single income,  too bad for you.  You have to pay about $205 a month.

Now tell me that is affordable and constitutional.  The Supreme court could not pass this bill as a law, because it is unconstitutional.  So they found

a way around that by calling it a national tax.  So are we living back in the dark ages where the king does whatever he wants and you have to suffer?

Come on guys,  Dem or Rep or Tea it doesn't matter,  this bill of goods is wrong.

Fox is a garbage news source. It's one sided. Always one sided. There's another forum I frequent and we tend to make fun links from Fox. Not meanin' to offend smoke or anything, btw. Just sayin, f*** Fox in the ass.

CNN has even lost its shit these last few years. Slowly turning into the same shit Fox is.

Though in all honesty, I would advise never trusting any one news source to begin with. They're all f***ing idiots that look to get their information first, whether it's right or wrong. Case in point:

Sorry a lil' off the main topic. My bad, man.

In my opinion 3 1/2 years is not enough time to get something like this rolling. Like with anything there will be setbacks, here most of the blame can lie on big government contracts to companies that have failed before (developing a database for FBI that cost a shitload of money and ultimately was scrapped), and of course non cooperating republicans that continue to self implode daily and make this once great party look like its run by morons.
