DOTMatrix & Daisywheel printers to print out a gazillion pages of your basic program to have a hard copy in case someone erased everything from disk by getting it too close to a magnet.

i have never heard of "floppy disk". is it new?

i am still using:

One of my instructors explained that he began his programming career on cards.  They would have to 'cut' their programs onto cards, load them onto card-carts and push them over to the program-loader station.  There were the occasional card-cart collisons, resulting in cards from two or more programs mixed together on the floor.  There was much cursing before the picking up and hand-sorting commenced.

I now suspect that they were racing each other to the card-loader, where the loser had to wait the longest, but who knows what they told the bosses.

My ancestors started the internet.  Drums and smoke signals. It wasn't very secure though.
