Administrators JoeDirt Posted January 29, 2009 Administrators Share Posted January 29, 2009 i got corrupted flow yesterday as well its quite common, i think that pb misinterprets few packets as corrupt and disconnects you, as you seen when u did maxpacktes 100 your ping droped from 280 to 250 and was same as dots, so i would suggest u keep that setting as for rate leave it at 32000. Also, cl_maxpackets set to 100 does not always make for good game play. If your latency is set to high or you have a weak connection then maxpackets @ 100 + high rate will cause you some serious problems. This is even more compounded if your running on a wireless connection. Maxpackets at 80 run better for me than 100, probably due to my sh!tty Time Warner connection. Also check your snaps setting *snap**snap*
The STALKER
Yes i am running wireless... god i loathe it!!! 0and snap settings???? where are they??? EDIT umm... /cl_maxpackets 70 and /rate 32000....

Administrators daredevil Posted January 31, 2009 Administrators Share Posted January 31, 2009 Also check your snaps setting *snap**snap* Snaps on client side has no effect if server is running at 20 snaps. It's an old myth people saying 40 snaps are good and i have seen tons of .55 players using 40 and I am sure 99.99% of .55 server admins runs their server at snap 20. I've played around with snaps a bit and have notice pretty much no change unless you really tweak them, then it's not a good change. The biggest improvments I've seen with these settings are the rate and maxpackets, but on server where I have a really high ping, setting my maxpackets to high actually gives me worse performance than if I back off a bit. It's generally if I'm seeing over 300-350 ping is where I start to play around with these settings. Keeping the rate high does nothing but help IMO. I have never really played around with the rate much though. The fact that your running on wireless Stalker adds a few more possibilities into the mix. You could just be getting interference from something/someone else close by or your router may not be handling the packet delivery correctly and your dropping packets. Ah..the good old days of wireless G, when somenoe would walk by to close with a cordless phone and my fathers wifi would go bye-bye.
