It doesn't matter to me one way or another if Assad is removed or if he suppresses the "rebels" . It looks like today the rebels are claiming to have captured a major city the size of los angeles. Information Minister Sameeh Maaytah says Bilal El-Labloubi died instantly of a bullet wound in his neck. A border official says two people managed to sneak in, while about 10 others ran back into Syria under heavy Syrian gunfire. It was not immediately clear if the two were the boy's parents. Maaytah says there was no cross border fire. He says the early Friday incident took place in Turra, a northern town near Ramtha on the Syrian border. Jordan hosts more than 140,000 Syrian refugees. The border official insisted on anonymity because he was not allowed to make press statements. I really don't what to say anymore about anything that goes on in the world. I'm a marine through and through but to witness genocide again its getting ridiculous. As far as U.S. Military action I really hope not, Bosnia was enough thank you. Hell Iran and Afghan is enough and we still don't belong there. U.N. can blow my left nut, they couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. Let the Russians take a shot at it, like they did in Afghanistan in the 80's but then again we would follow because we don't pay attention to history. thesilentpriest Posted July 27, 2012 Share Posted July 27, 2012 (edited) The big problem is that syria doesn't own oil(at least not significant numbers). So, the consequences of this war are not that great for the rest of the world. Therefore the US and the UN are not willing to interfere like Libya, besides this China and Russia are working against the security board of the UN. Thats why the UN can not do that much. An other problems is that the CIA(same counts for the other countries intellegence services) is not able to gather enough information about syria. And the US is not going to attack as long they don't know where those chemical weapons are. So, I think it will take sometime before it ends. Only when Assad is going to use those chemical weapons it could be ending soon, since then the UN has no other choice then to interfere. Yes angel..one more reason to do something...if he treaths out siders like this i imagine what he do to his ppl..??? UN goes to so many scenarys why not here too??? no profit??? no oil???? strange,dont you think and yes i eard about the chimical weapons...was not the reason to invade iraq and at the end till now..they find nothing????? why not go to siria too?? Yes, you are right but again Iraq had oil, weapons of mass destruction were just used as an excuse to invade and keep the oil production safe. The U.S. considers Syria a terrorist state or at least a supporter of terrorism and al queda. So like you said afghanistan and iraq were enough. As for the U.N. they sure do want alot from us (money & troops), but seem to get cold feet when we want their full support on something. Bosman Posted July 27, 2012 Share Posted July 27, 2012 It may be all about the money or the oil but when men hold men financially hostage it affects their well being. People can argue the USA are pricks for doing things for this reason but the other side of the story is people holding whole countries hostage with threats about stopping the flow of oil. We all know America being as industrious as it is will suffer more than probably any other country but obviously all countries that they don't stop the flow to are un affected. I try to imagine an american economy without oil or with Gas being $6 - $10 a gallon and i only see chaos because people would be loosing homes and apartments and living on the streets begging and stealing. Everyone wants to blame us for protecting our interests, but then that too is arrogance. Everyone will protect their interests of well being else we would all be lacking survival skills. Human rights is an area all peoples from all nations should be involved in. We are all one people made up of the same genetic materials, it is in our interest to protect who we are as well as our basic human dignity. No one should be looking the other way while this shit is going down! I personally can't do the action part of it but my tax dollars would happily support the protections of human rights.
