AntiThought Posted December 23, 2010 Share Posted December 23, 2010 Try providing an area where the crabs can submerge themselves but still get out when needed and mist them well. If they become more active then you have hermies with H2O needs. What is not often realized is that hermit crabs do not have lungs they still have a form of modified gill that only works when it is moist. If the gills get dry Oxygen can no longer properly diffuse across the gills and they start slowly suffocating over several days or more depending on species. Not a fun way to go.
