  3. At an age of only 10 million years, which means it’s practically a baby on a galactic time scale, the object identified as 2MASS J1119–1137 is between four and eight times the mass of Jupiter, and hence falls in the mass range between a large planet and a small brown dwarf star. Using data from NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) and other ground-based telescopes, 2MASS J1119–1137 was identified by its unique light signature using a combination of optical and infrared images from large-area surveys of the sky. The paper reporting these results will be published by The Astrophysical Journal Letters. "We identified 2MASS J1119–1137 by its highly unusual light signature," explains lead author Kendra Kellogg, a graduate student at Western's Department of Physics and Astronomy. "It emits much more light in the infrared part of the spectrum than it would be expected to if it had already aged and cooled.” According to Carnegie’s Jacqueline Faherty, the challenge with identifying such rare objects is distinguishing them from a multitude of potential interlopers. "Much more commonly, distant old and red stars residing in the far corners of our galaxy can display the same characteristics as nearby planet-like objects," says Faherty. "When the light from the distant stars passes through the large expanses of dust in our galaxy on its way to our telescopes, the light gets reddened so these stars can pose as potentially exciting nearby young planet-like objects in our data, when they actually are not that at all." With knowledge of these common misidentifications, the team immediately checked their findings using the FLAMINGOS-2 spectrograph instrument on the Gemini South telescope in Chile. "We promptly confirmed that 2MASS J1119–1137 is in fact a young low-mass object in the solar neighborhood, and not a distant reddened star," says Western’s Stanimir Metchev. Next, the team wanted to determine the precise age of this object. "Our Gemini observations only showed that the object was younger than about 200 million years. If it was much younger, it could actually be a free-floating planet—an analog of our own Jupiter, yet without a host star," says Metchev. The final piece of the puzzle was contributed by Carnegie’s Jonathan Gagné using one of the most efficient instruments for infrared spectroscopy in existence, the FIRE spectrograph on Carnegie's Baade 6.5-m telescope in Chile. FIRE allowed the measurement of the line-of-sight velocity of 2MASS J1119–1137 through the Doppler shift of its emitted light. Combining this measurement with the sky motion of 2MASS J1119–1137, the team discovered that it belongs to the youngest group of stars in the solar neighborhood. This group contains about two dozen 10 million-year-old stars, all moving together through space, and is collectively known as the TW Hydrae association. "Demonstrating that 2MASS J1119–1137 belongs in the TW Hydrae association, and so is only 10 million years old, inevitably led to the exciting conclusion," says Gagné. Being nearby, 95 light years away, 2MASS J1119–1137 only narrowly misses the crown for being the brightest free-floating planet analog. That is held by another object known as PSO J318.5−22, discovered three years ago. However, at an age of 23 million years, PSO J318.5−22 is more than twice the age of 2MASS J1119–1137, and is therefore more massive. "Discovering free-floating planet analogs like 2MASS J1119–1137 and PSO J318.5−22 offers a great opportunity to study the nature of giant planets outside the Solar System," concludes Kellogg, who says free-floating planet candidates are “much easier to scrutinize than planets orbiting around other stars. Objects like 2MASS J1119–1137 are drifting in space all alone and our observations are not overwhelmed by the brightness of a host star next door.” Source
  4. Plextor is adding the M8Pe to its line of solid state drives. It's a four-lane PCI-Express NVMe drive with the M.2 form factor that allows for better airflow and cooling. The M8Pe is the first Plextor drive that uses the NVMe protocol, which reduces latency and allows for faster speeds. It's the end of SATA as we know it, folks, and we feel great. Plextor says that the PCIe connection enables 4KB random read performance up to 270,000 IOPS, and 4KB write performance up to 150,000 IOPS. It also features intelligent RAM caching, and smart compression technology to boost performance and storage capacity. For reference, the M.2 Samsung 950 Pro SSD promises 270,000 IOPS on 4K random reads and 110,000 on random writes, or 2500 MB/s / 1500 MB/s sequential read/write speeds. So yeah: these things are fast. In addition, the M8Pe has a feature allowing private data to be hidden securely on shared computers. Unlike some of the other PCIe-based SSDs we've seen at the show, the M8e doesn't make its M.2 form-factor drive easily accessible to remove from the PCIe board and place into an M.2 slot. Plextor hasn't yet released details about the price or when the M8Pe is coming out, but this year is a safe bet. 5. At least 20 stories of a 5-star Dubai hotel became engulfed in flames as the city was preparing for New Year’s Eve celebrations, with 16 people receiving injuries. Firefighters are currently battling the fire at the 302-meter tall Address Downtown Dubai. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire, which covered at least 20 stories of the building near the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest skyscraper. Burning debris rained down from the building as firetrucks raced to the scene. Eyewitnesses told Sky News that firefighters’ access is complicated by structure and crowds. Civil defense representative said that all residents have been evacuated, and people are being moved out of the Dubai Mall located nearby. The fire engulfed the hotel from the outside and did not spread inside, according to Dubai’s media office. Officials said that the firefighters have sustained most of the fire, however have not yet extinguished it completely. As the building just caught fire, panic was reported in the area around the hotel and social media users posted videos of people running away from the scene in crowds. The Address Downtown and residential compound has nearly 200 rooms and over 600 apartments. The hotel is situated about 2km from Burj Khalifa, one of the sites of New Year’s festivities. Officials say they plan to go ahead with the festivities, which include three displays beginning at the Burj Khalifa. The skyscraper is decorated with 400,000 LED lights, while the fireworks display will feature 1.6 tons of pyrotechnics. In February, a massive fire broke out in the Marina Torch, a residential skyscraper at the Dubai Marina. The residents were evacuated and no fatalities were reported in that incident. 6. Vin Diesel has announced two new Riddick projects. Writing on Instagram on Friday night, Diesel confirmed that the fourth Riddick movie will be called Furia, while a TV show called Merc City is also coming. "Merc City is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe," he said. The show will be produced by a new TV subsidiary of Diesel's own One Race Films production company. Concerning the new Riddick movie, Diesel said director David Twohy will start writing Furia in December. The name Furia suggests the movie will involve the Furyans. Riddick the character is one of the only surviving members of the Furyans. The TV show Merc City also sounds like it has some strong potential. 2013's Riddick was the most recent entry in the series; it generated more than $98 million in worldwide box office receipts. Diesel's other upcoming projects includeFurious 8 and XXX: The Return of Xander Cage. As for Riddick games, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay was released in 2004 for the original Xbox and PC, while sequel Assault on Dark Athena launched in 2009 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. A mobile game called Riddick: The Merc Files was released in 2013. No new games in the series have been announced. 7. Pluto’s moon Kerberos appears to be smaller than scientists expected and has a highly reflective surface, which suggests it’s coated with relatively clean water ice. This image of Kerberos was created by combining four individual Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) pictures taken on July 14, approximately seven hours before New Horizons’ closest approach to Pluto, at a range of 245,600 miles (396,100 kilometers) from Kerberos. The image was deconvolved to recover the highest possible spatial resolution and oversampled by a factor of eight to reduce pixilation effects. Kerberos appears to have a double-lobed shape, approximately 7.4 miles (12km) across in its long dimension and 2.8 miles (4.5km) in its shortest dimension. mages of Pluto’s tiny moon Kerberos taken by NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft — and just sent back to Earth this week — complete the family portrait of Pluto’s moons. Kerberos appears to be smaller than scientists expected and has a highly reflective surface, counter to predictions prior to the Pluto flyby in July. “Once again, the Pluto system has surprised us,” said Hal Weaver from the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland. The new data, downlinked from the New Horizons spacecraft on October 20, show that Kerberos appears to have a double-lobed shape, with the larger lobe approximately 5 miles (8 kilometers) across and the smaller lobe approximately 3 miles (5km) across. Science team members speculate from its unusual shape that Kerberos could have been formed by the merger of two smaller objects. The reflectivity of Kerberos’ surface is similar to that of Pluto’s other small moons — approximately 50 percent — and strongly suggests Kerberos, like the others, is coated with relatively clean water ice. Before the New Horizons encounter with Pluto, researchers had used Hubble Space Telescope images to “weigh” Kerberos by measuring its gravitational influence on its neighboring moons. That influence was surprisingly strong, considering how faint Kerberos was. They theorized that Kerberos was relatively large and massive, appearing faint only because its surface was covered in dark material. But the small bright-surfaced Kerberos now revealed by these new images shows that that idea was incorrect, for reasons that are not yet understood. “Our predictions were nearly spot-on for the other small moons, but not for Kerberos,” said Mark Showalter from the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California. The new results are expected to lead to a better understanding of Pluto’s fascinating satellite system. Source http://www.astronomy.com/
  8. Ubisoft has officially announced Far Cry Primal, a new entry in the first-person shooter series that takes players to the "savage Stone Age." It will be released worldwide on February 23, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, followed by a PC release in March. Described as a "full-fledged single-player experience," Far Cry Primal is set in 10,000 BC, at a time when "massive beasts like the woolly mammoth and sabertooth tiger ruled the Earth." As Takkar, a hunter and last surviving member of his hunting group, players arrive in an area called Oros with the singular goal of survival. "They will meet a cast of memorable characters who will help them push back and tame the dangers of the wild," Ubisoft explains. "Players will journey as the first human to tame the wilderness and rise above extinction. "Along the way, they will have to craft weapons and tools partly from the bones of slain beasts, hunt for food, master fire, fend off fierce predators and face off agains other tribes to conquer Oros." In the reveal trailer, which you can watch above, the player is seen bringing down a woolly mammoth using spears and arrows alongside other members of the hunting party, before a saberooth tiger pounces. Later on, members of a rival tribe can be seen attacking the player, who looks lost in a dense forest area. Far Cry Primal creative director, Jean-Christophe Guyot, has said he believes the Stone Age is the perfect setting for the game. “Far Cry usually puts you at the edge of the known world, in a beautiful, lawless, and savage frontier. The Stone Age is, in a way, the very first frontier for humankind; it’s the time when humans put a stick in the ground and claimed land for their own, the time when we started climbing the food chain. That came with conflict, against other humans of course, but also against nature itself." Far Cry Primal is being developed by Ubisoft Montréal, in collaboration with Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Shanghai Studio, and Ubisoft Kiev Studio. The company has released a developer diary, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how Far Cry Primal came together. Far Cry 4, the last numbered entry in the series, outperformed expectations for Ubisoft, which said interest in the game was the strongest in franchise history and revealed it sold substantially more than Far Cry 3. Ubisoft chief executive Yves Guillemot has previously said Far Cry will be one of the company's tentpole franchises for years to come. "The Far Cry franchise is here for the long-run and is a stronger contender in the shooter genre," he said. Source http://www.gamespot.com/
  9. Camel 101 have announced Syndrome, a brand new horror game that they are making that they hope will channel classic survival horror games that have all but died out in the market in recent years. Syndrome has a typical premise – waking up on a spaceship and discovering that things have gone horribly wrong – but it is promising a return to the kind of psychological horror that used to define the genre in the first place. In Syndrome, you can’t (and shouldn’t) always take your enemy head on in combat- a lot of the times, running and hiding effectively are the best course of action available to you. In Syndrome, everything is scarce, so make sure you make what you get really count- conserve your resources, and save them for a rainy day. Syndrome will be out in the second quarter of 2016 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux. Source http://gamingbolt.com/
  10. Logitech has unveiled the G410 Atlas Spectrum TKL Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, a small RG keyboard that drops the G910's custom angled keycaps in favor of a more finger-familiar shape. Logitech says that fans have been asking for a smaller mechanical keyboard, so the G410 has a tenkeyless design (i.e. no numpad or macro keys) which makes it small and light enough to throw in your backpack. The G410 has Logitech's custom “Romer-G” mechanical switches, which Logitech says register key presses up to 25 percent faster than its competitors (with a 45 gram actuation force and 1.5mm actuation point, they're easier to press than most Cherry keys). The G410 has individually customizable RGB keys, and like most of Logitech's new products, you can download the Logitech Arx Control app for iOS or Android, which displays things like in-game information and vital statistics. The G410 comes with a little phone stand in case you want to prop it up on your desk with the app running. The G410 Atlas Spectrum is scheduled to launch in the US and Europe in October with a retail price of $130 / €149. We've got our hands on one, and will be reporting back soon with a review. 11. Microsoft on Monday released a new gameplay trailer for upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider, giving players a new look at the timed-exclusive Xbox game. Titled "Descent Into Legend," the two-minute video shows Lara Croft's journey through a hostile world replete with danger and puzzles seemingly at every step. Rise of the Tomb Raider launches on November 10 for Xbox One and Xbox 360, with PC and PlayStation versions coming in 2016. Source http://www.gamespot.com/
  12. Fans are eagerly anticipating the premiere of The Walking Dead season 6 this Sunday, but before Rick and co return to their screens, there's a new set of images for viewers to feast their eyes on. Admittedly, they don't give a massive amount away, but it seems clear from the new shots that the zombies are still causing trouble for our favourite band of fighters. Shocker! The Walking Dead season 6 airs in America on AMC on October 11 2015 and in the UK on FOX UK the following night. Source http://www.gamesradar.com/
  13. British people, of a weekend, love to get into their tanks and have a big old barney with Johnny Foreigner, celebrating afterwards with a hammock of pork scratchings and a decanter of finest Bovril. You can now do the first part in Company of Heroes 2 standalone expansion The British Forces, which released on Steam a few days ago. The launch trailer, above, features the UK's biggest Ben, and words emblazoned with the Union Flag—that's how you know it's Britain-themed. The British Forces adds new commanders, units and multiplayer maps, along with supposedly improved motion capture animations, and purportedly characterful troops from across the UK's varied regions. "An international cast of actors from England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and New-Zealand bring the units to life," Relic sez, "with accents ranging from the posh elite to the working class. The writing of the units’ audio cues was also given special attention in order to ensure the various regional differences – and rivalries – among the British subjects stand out". Tom Senior's time with the game backs that up. "Officers deliver understated warnings in clipped queen's english while infantrymen sit in ditches and go on about wanking." 14. As load into Fighter Squadron—the newly announced multiplayer mode of Star Wars: Battlefront— The aerial dogfights of the 10-vs-10 team deathmatch feel tailor made for people who, really like Star Wars. find something joyous in the spectacle, as squadrons of X-Wings and Tie Fighters engage in ferocious bursts of conflict. More than that, Fighter Squadron, like so much of Battlefront, pays attention to the little details. It's simple things, like the way a spawning X-Wing pilot will declare "Red Fourteen, standing by," as the player is given control. Fighter Squadron builds upon the Air Superiority mode last seen in Battlefield 3's End Game DLC. Battlefront offers a more streamlined take on dogfighting. There are brief, timed objectives, but for the most part my team's job is to bring down Tie Fighters. We do, but not before the Imperials earn the 200 points needed to win the match. Simplicity is Fighter Squadron's greatest strength, and the mode is extremely efficient at creating characteristically Star Wars moments. Movement is bound to the left stick (EA is demoing on the Playstation 4), and thrust to the right—a control scheme so easy to use that within seconds of spawning, AI troop transports spawn infrequently as a bonus objective. Depending on their allegiance, your job is to attack or defend them. Most of the time, Fighter Squadron seems tuned to support players weaving in and out of their own specific battles with little regard for the overall picture. Here, everyone is pointed at a specific location, and told to converge for a large and chaotic battle. It doesn't always work out like that. The short duration of each transport's visit means that many players were left out of range. Twisting and tumbling around the clouds of Sullust is plenty exciting, but not as exciting as twisting and tumbling inches above its surface. To encourage daring manoeuvres, DICE has littered the planet's floor with power-ups. Diving to the floor gives you chance to repair, or to reduce the cooldown timers on your ship's abilities. 15. A batch of new goodies have arrived online as part of AMC's promotional push for new spin-off series Fear The Walking Dead, with the unveiling of a brand new trailer and the first official synopsis. The new trailer continues in the same vein as its predecessors by placing the emphasis on the series' new characters. Still no sign of the walkers, and it will be interesting to see whether the network continues to keep them under wraps until the show hits the airwaves. "A companion series to The Walking Dead," begins the official synopsis, "the #1 show on television among adults 18-49, Fear The Walking Dead takes us back to the beginning of the zombie apocalypse – a time when the world was changing rapidly for reasons unknown, before anyone understood exactly what was happening, when life as everyone knew it was upended and altered in ways no one could have ever imagined." David Erickson will be acting as showrunner, with Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis and Frank Dillane heading up the cast. Fear The Walking Dead will premiere in August, with a specific air date yet to be confirmed. Source http://www.gamesradar.com/
  16. 5. Wreckage of the Airbus A320 is seen at the site of the crash, near Seyne-les-Alpes, French Alps March 26, 2015. (Reuters/Emmanuel Foudrot ) The Germanwings co-pilot who deliberately crashed a plane into the French Alps “rehearsed” the aircraft's descent during a previous flight, French investigators said Wednesday. The practice run took place just hours before his deadly plan unfolded. According to an interim report released by France's air accident investigation body (BEA), co-pilot Andreas Lubitz appeared to practice a controlled descent during a Dusseldorf-Barcelona flight, just two hours before he crashed the same plane into a mountainside. While pilot Patrick Sondheimer was out of the cockpit, Lubitz set the aircraft to descent mode five times in a four-and-a-half minute period. The “selected altitude” changed repeatedly, hitting as low as 100 feet (30 meters) several times. Lufthansa spokesman Helmut Tolksdorf told AP that the airline has not yet had time to analyze the new details and has no plans for immediate comment. Lufthansa is the parent company of Germanwings. Crash findings The BEA also released its findings on the doomed flight which crashed into the French Alps just hours after the “rehearsal.” According to the report, Sondheimer left the cockpit at the beginning of the aircraft's cruise at 38,000 feet. While Lubitz was alone in the cockpit, the selected altitude changed from 38,000 feet to 100 feet. The plane then “started a continuous and controlled descent on autopilot,” according to the report. During the descent, the Marseille control center called the flight crew on 11 occasions, on three different frequencies. None of those calls were answered. The French military defense system also tried to contact the flight on three occasions, without any response. Four minutes and 40 seconds after Sondheimer left his station, the interphone sounded in the cockpit as he tried to re-enter. Three other calls also sounded. None of them received an answer. The sound of breathing was recorded on the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) until a few seconds before the end of the flight. Warnings from the Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS), Master Caution, and Master Warning sounded before the collision took place. The plane ultimately collided with the mountainside at 9:41:06, killing all 150 people on board. Earlier media reports said Lubitz received treatment for a "serious depressive episode" six years ago, while he was training to become a pilot. The 27-year-old had been written off sick by a doctor on the day of the crash. A torn-up note authorizing his medical absence from work was found by police inside his Düsseldorf apartment. 18. Graphics card giant Nvidia says the new API allows it to cross the "uncanny valley." Direct X 12, the next graphics API for Windows devices, has been demonstrated rendering real-time graphics with "six to twelve" times more polygons than its predecessor. Speaking at the Build 2015 conference in San Francisco on Thursday, Microsoft technical fellow John Shewchuk talked through a strikingly detailed Final Fantasy PC demo that was running from a quad-SLI Digital Storm rig. The video demonstration, which graphics card giant Nvidia says "points a way through the uncanny valley", can be found below: "The thing that's really incredible about what you're seeing is just the density of data that's involved in this," Shewchuk said. In a bid to show that the demo was not pre-rendered CG, Shewchuk opened the free camera to look around the scene in real-time, as well as make various changes to the lighting. Shewchuk claimed that each scene renders about 63 million polygons. "That's about six to 12 times more than we could do with DX11," he said. He went on to claim that the textures were 8K by 8K, and that "every piece of hair is being rendered as a polygon - this isn't surface map stuff. I think it's an incredible example of just how far people are pushing big data." Nvidia said the demo was "running on four of our flagship GeForce Titan X GPUs," and described it as a "stunning example" of what can be done with Microsoft's next graphics API. Direct X 12 is due to arrive with Windows 10, which is rumoured will release in July, though no official date has been set. “Microsoft has said Windows 10 will launch this summer. We have nothing additional to share,” a Microsoft spokesperson told GameSpot in response to the release date rumour. In January, Microsoft claimed that DirectX 12 would not necessarily require new graphics card for its basic functions to work. Source: Gamespot http://www.gamespot.com/
  19. The Denzel Washington-fronted action thriller The Equalizer wasn’t exactly a huge runaway hit when it was released last September. It was, however, a solid success, at least enough so that Sony has officially announced it’s getting a sequel, and the star is likely coming back for more. Rumors of a follow up began swirling even before The Equalizer hit theaters last fall and began racking up a better-than-expected box office total. According to Variety those rumors have now come to fruition, as the studio finally decided to go ahead with The Equalizer 2. The first film earned north of $101 million domestically, adding another $90 million from the international market, not a bad haul against a $55 million budget. Antoine Fuqua directed the first film, and while his involvement in the sequel is not mentioned in the article, it does state that star Denzel Washington is "expected" to reprise his role. Let’s hope, because it wouldn’t be much without him, as he brings additional layers and texture to what could very easily have been a rote, one note revenge film. Critics were pretty split on The Equalizer, though skewing towards the positive side, and the film currently has a 61% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While that’s not the end all be all, people with an affinity for an affinity for action, especially of the R-rated, tough-guy variety, tended to appreciate the film’s grim, gritty charms. Washington plays Robert McCall in the revamp of the mid-1980s TV series of the same name, taking over the lead role held by Edward Woodward. The plays like an origin story of that character. Washington’s McCall is a former deep cover operative who has since left the game and is keeping a low profile. All he wants is to be left alone and lead a quiet, simple life, but when a young prostitute (Chloe Grace Moretz) gets roughed up by some Russian mobsters, he can’t abide and is forced to use his skillset to defend the helpless. That last part is the basic logline for the series, McCall is a vigilante who helps "equalize" the odds for those who can’t help themselves. While that sounds pretty bland, the film is actually a wee bit nuts. The action is gritty and intense—this is a style of brutal, violent action movies that doesn’t get made much these days, the kind that had its heyday in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s—and it borders on over the top. It has one of the best walking-away-from-an-explosion scenes ever. One of the villains is also basically the devil, and literary references abound, so it’s not always exactly what you expect. There’s no word on when The Equalizer 2 might actually happen, but Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua, as well as their Training Day cohort Ethan Hawke, are reuniting for MGM’s Magnificent Seven remake, so maybe they’ll discuss the matter on set.
  20. "It was capable of committing revenge with which most of us can only dream", published the local newspaper. Probably everyone has ever reached such a level of frustration with a computer we've fantasized destroy it. Hit is perhaps the easiest option, but a man in the United States, enraged, took his frustration beyond. Lucas Hinch, Colorado Springs, drew his computer away from home and fired shots. Were eight shots, according to police, who arrested him after. "I was having technical problems so he took her to the back alley and destroyed," said a police spokesman. Hinch, 37, was arrested for firing a gun in town. Now, a judge will decide what punishment awaits. "He was tired of fighting" "Man kills his computer," says the title of the record of the incident recorded by the police. "He got tired of fighting with your computer over the past months," said police spokesman Jeff Stroessner Probably everyone has ever reached such a level According to the Gazette of Colorado Springs, Hinch "shot the condemned bug" after the ctrl + alt + delete command, the method commonly used to restart the computer, "repeatedly stopped working" Monday afternoon. Hinch used a Hi-Point 9mm pistol for revenge against the hard disk of the Dell computer. "It was capable of committing revenge with which most of us can only dream", published the local newspaper. "It is expected that the computer does not recover." According to local media Hinch not know he was breaking the law when he opened fire. "He told us he thought it was okay because we are a state that can carry weapons openly," said Lt. Catherine Buckley, communications officer. Computer Fury Some scholars argue that the "computer rage" is increasingly common. Hinch said his unit fought for months before committing the crime. In the end, it was a simple command to restart the machine repeatedly refused to meet what pulled him out of his wits.

  23. Finally some news about the ddr4 rams, been waiting for this for a long time. We already sawG.Skills Ripjaws 4 modules listed on OCUK a couple of days ago, but now G.Skill has officially made the announcement, detailing all of the specifications and kit configurations. The DDR4 modules are meant to be used with the upcoming X99 platform and Haswell-E processors and will run at 1.2 V for those operating at or under 2800 MHz, while those operating at 3000 MHz or higher will run at 1.35 V. Officially, 1.35 V is outside of the DDR4 specifications, but anyone running memory at these speeds won't be too concerned with the extra power consumption. G.Skill's Ripjaws 4 modules will be available in frequencies ranging from 2133 MHz through 3200 MHz. They come with CL15 or CL16 timings, and DIMMs will be available in 4 GB and 8 GB variants. Mind you, you won't be able to buy individual DIMMs; kits will be available with capacities of 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB, although some higher-frequency memory won't have all the kit options. The 16 GB kits will consist of four 4 GB modules, the 32 GB kits of either eight 4 GB modules or four 8 GB modules, and the 64 GB kit will come with eight 8 GB modules. All of the kits should be available with red, black, and blue heatspreaders. No word on pricing or availability yet, though we do expect the entire platform, which includes the X99 motherboards and the Haswell-E CPUs, to hit shelves on August 29. 24. Hey everyone! 5th day If you guys don't know what =3 is, it's a web-show, previously hosted by Ray William Johnson and it's displayed on YouTube. However, RWJ recently left the hosting position and substituted himself for Robby Motz. Since the new host, =3 has been losing popularity, video-by-video. Anyway, I think the reason why it's been losing popularity is because the new host isn't funny. Furthermore, he simply shows us the 3 trending videos and gives his opinions on them. No racism, No offensive jokes, No throwing-of-the-black-babies. I understand that he's not Ray and never will be, but he needs SOMETHING. Not just reviewing the videos. We want to laugh. Like all of my other posts, it's open for discussion/comments/criticism. ~Mr. Grimm, The Grimm Train
