  1. The highlight of the Xbox Games Showcase was Starfield. Looks ambitious in scope, potential, and gameplay experience. Can't wait to dive into this massive world!
  2. Sup! Thought I might start doing Lets Play series for shits'n'giggles. Something to do to actually beat games. I tried this a long time ago, and fell out of it. I posted in this section, because at the end of the full play-through I plan on doing a review. Shall post up each new part as they come along. Today we have Saints Row the Third! A great open world GTA clone that focuses more on balls to the wall insanity rather than hardcore realism. (0:00-8:29 = talking/preamble. 8:30+ = Gameplay) Type: Open world, third-person, action Dev: Volition Publisher: Deepsilver Steam Price: $14.99 Lowest: $3.74 Bundled?: 1 time. http://store.steampowered.com/app/55230/
  3. Need something to do during the pre-New Year lull? Blizzard is offering a 100 percent experience point bonus to all Diablo 3 players who log in between now and midnight on December 29. The deal actually went live on December 25, but none of us were around to notice it until now. Fortunately, there's still plenty of time to get in on the action. "All nephalem who log into Diablo III this weekend on any platform* will receive a +100% bonus to experience gain," Blizzard wrote on Battle.net. "As with previous buffs, the bonus provided will stack multiplicatively with other existing bonuses, including those provided by items, shrines, Pools of Reflection, and Paragon points." The asterisk donates the one little catch, although it doesn't apply to us: On consoles, the buff only applies to the Ultimate Evil Edition. The 100 percent experience bonus offer runs until 11:59 pm PST on December 29.
  4. Type: Open World, 3rd Person, Action, Sandbox Publisher/Dev: Deep Silver Volition Steam price: $29.99 GOTY Edition Lowest Price: $9.99 (Currently on Sale for $14.99 Nov 26-Dec 1st) Bundled: Once Pros: Large open world, super hero powers, sandbox concept, Dubstep gun (nuff said.) Cons: Repetitive mission types, Lack of Variety in Enemies, World/vehichles seems irrelevant Recommended?: Hell f***ing yeah.
  5. Type: Horror Survival, Psychological Dev: Double Helix Publisher: Konami Steam Price: $39.99 Lowest: $7.99 Bundled?: Never Pros: Classic SH story. Eerie feel. Great music. Cons: Focuses more on combat than previous games. Not that great of a port. http://store.steampowered.com/app/19000/
  6. Type: Horror Survival, action, Dev: Capcom Publisher: Capcom Steam Price: $49.99 Lowest: $12.49 Bundled?: Never Pros: Decent Story. Less action/more horror theme. Survival oriented. Cons: Arcade feel. Lack of traditional puzzles. http://store.steampowered.com/app/222480/
  7. Type: Horror, Action, Psychological Dev: Remedy Entertanment Publisher: Remedy Entertanment Steam Price: $29.99 / $39.99 for franchise Lowest: $2.99 / $3.99 (It goes on sale a lot) Bundled?: Never Pros: Great story. Great environments. Length of game is worth the price tag. Cons: Light mechanic is interesting, but becomes stale. http://store.steampowered.com/app/108710/
  8. Triple Header tonight! Tossing out the Dead Space Trilogy. Watch me shit my pants during DS 2 footage. Look for my happy friend. DS3 currently on sale for $5.99 on Origin! (10/2/2014) Type: Horror Survival, Action, sci-fi Dev: EA Redwood (DS1), Visceral (DS2/3) Publisher: EA Steam Price: DS1-$19.99, DS2-$19.99 (buy the pack for 35.99) -- DS3- $19.99 on Origin Lowest: 1/2 - $4.99, 8.99 for pack. DS3- currently $5.99 on origin at time of post. Bundled?: Humble EA Bundle Pros: 1/2 Surreal horror experience. Excellent storytelling. DS3- Amazing action sequences. Cons: The trilogy is split between origin and steam. DS3 falters from the classic horror recipe of the first two games. http://store.steampowered.com/app/17470/ http://store.steampowered.com/app/47780/ https://www.origin.com/en-ca/store/buy/dead-space-3/pc-download/base-game/standard-edition
  9. Heya Folks! I've finally managed to afford a copy of Watch_Dogs, which was a much anticipated game, launched in May 2014. Granted, because I have purchased it 4 months from it's release, many bugs have been fixed, and that might add bias to the review. This is a review of the Deluxe version, which adds some special DLC content. This is a very unique game. It's action, FPS, Open-World... all things we've seen before. But this is the first game where you can hack other people, and with a seamless multiplayer element to it as well. It also includes many mini-games, which include driving, gambling, drinking, hacking, etc. I would not hesitate to say that this is what Saints Row IV should've been, despite the fact that I love that game as well. There are two versions of the game available for download. The standard edition costs $59.99 USD, the deluxe edition costs $69.99. I would not expect a price-drop for awhile because of the high demand for the game. Watch_Dogs is set in Chicago, IL, playing as one Aiden Pierce where everything is connected via a central computer system, known as ctOS (CenTral Operating System). This includes cell phones, traffic lights, routers, cars, etc. The plot starts off dramatically, where the protagonist's family is killed in a horrible accident that was set to happen due to Pierce's notoriety. Using the ctOS as the primary weapon, having Intel on every citizen and traveler in the city, you embark to get justice as well as control the corruption of the city. Watch_Dogs is known for being one of the most graphically intensive games at the moment, with lofty minimum system requirements that state a SLI-ready card to play the game... but I've found this is not the case, and I will write my own "minimum system requirements". But do not fear, even at the "Low" settings, the graphics blow many other games' high setting out of the water. Processor: 2.4 GHz Quad Core processor (AMD Athlon II x4 series, Intel Core2Quad minimum) Graphics: AMD Radeon HD6xxx or above (Sorry, do not know NVidia equal), 1GB GDDR3 video memory. Memory: Suggested is 6GB, I say 8GB to avoid any disk caching, and the ability to keep applications running in the background. Pros: Graphics, Long Gameplay time, featuring over 9 "acts", with 10 or so missions per act. Mini-games, and ctOS crime control offer hours of entertainment even while not on the campaign. Realistic shooting, ie shooting someone in the leg will slow them down, not kill them, etc. Physics system is pretty realistic. Graphics are amazing Cons: Driving is *alright*, but definitely more fun over realism. But then again, this isn't a racing simulator, names of the cars do not appear when you get in them, and I have yet to be able to blow up a car. You can make smoke pour out, but that's about it. My rating is an 8.5/10 with the 1.5 deduction coming from the cars. I would certainly recommend this game if you are interested in strategic gameplay, with fast paced action, and an intriguing story.
  10. Assassins Creed: Brotherhood Rating: 9.5/10 Game Type: RPG, Action, Adventure, FPS Price: $20 reg/ $5 on sale Summary: "Desmond and his allies retreat to the ruins of the Monteriggioni villa, and Desmond reenters the Animus to continue Ezio's memories, specifically to identify the location of the Apple. After facing against Rodrigo Borgia, Ezio returned to Monteriggioni, but the villa is soon attacked by forces under the command of Cesare Borgia, Rodrigo's son. Mario is killed and the Apple is stolen. Ezio vows revenge by helping to free the people of Rome from the Borgia family. As Ezio works covertly to turn the city against the Borgias, he gains followers that want to join his cause, and Ezio trains them in the way of the Assassins. In an attempt to assassinate Cesare and Rodrigo at the Castel Sant'Angelo, Ezio instead witnesses Cesare forcing his father to eat a poisoned apple that Rodrigo had prepared to kill his son. Ezio chases down Cesare and eventually captures him and recovers the Apple. Cesare is taken to prison in Viana, Spain but manages to escape with help of his allies. The Assassins lead the fight against Cesare and the remaining loyal Borgia troops, and eventually Ezio throws Cesare from the castle walls, killing him. With no perceived further threats, Ezio takes to hide the Apple under the Colosseum. In the present, Desmond is able to navigate through the underground chambers beneath the Colosseum to locate the Apple. As he picks it up, Desmond is witness to another hologram figure, calling herself Juno, and who controls Desmond to stab Lucy (because Lucy has defected to the Templars) before he falls into a coma. " Link Pros: - This was the first AC game that I played. The story line, characters and options are all great and outstanding. - The variety in weapons and methods of kill are phenomenal. - The graphics and 3d rendering are not 100% but for the second game in the franchise they stand out way better then most. - I like the option to save citizens and invite them to the Brotherhood. This allows for better combat, strategy and you can assign them to other posts and missions to gain money and xp. - The free world roaming was great, so after you complete the storyline you have the option to complete side objectives or go on a killing spree. - There was never a shortage of Borgia or missions. The missions weren't short like some games nor were they trivial. It requires the player to think about access and methods. Cons: - As you play Ezio through the Animus it can be quite touchy. So if you want to get to a specific mission to replay or look at stats, it's very hard to control the Animus and you spend a lot of time trying to select missions, stats etc. - The horse movement is very spotty. Sometimes it's hard to jump or hold still. When fighing Borgia on horses, they are too overpowered and can easily kill, whether you are on foot or on horse. - This was the first game in the Franchise that opened up a multiplayer option. Being as it was the first, I cannot beat on it too bad. However these were the things that they could improve: There was no autobalance in skill or players. You could be pitted against level 10 assasins. Although you were allowed the option to pick your character, there were guaranteed to be 20 or more characters the same. Either they were other players or bots, but this made it difficult to track anyone. I think there was only one game type, marked for death. I would have loved to see other game types or maybe campaign mp.
  11. Type: Action-adventure/platformer Dev/Publisher: Spicyhorse Games/ EA Steam price: $19.99 Lowest Price: $3.99 Bundled: Never Pros: Beautiful gfx, Amazing soundtrack, great controls, great story, tons of unlockables Cons: Framerate Drops, Texture distortion in cutscenes, sometimes monotonous platforming Recommended?: Yes!! http://store.steampowered.com/app/19680/ HOW TO UNCAP 30FPS: 1. Go to Documents/My Games/Alice Madness Returns/Config 2. Open aliceEngine.ini with Notepad or similar 3. Search for MaxSmoothedFramerate and change it to 60, or whatever FPS your heart desires. 4. Save and exit file.
  12. Not sure if anybody here has seen this yet... but if you haven't, and you like suspense and action movies, than I think this is for you. It's kinda spy-esque, but it's more along the lines of the Bourne series than James Bond or Mission Impossible. Anyways, basic description- there's this cold-war era station that gives out codes for agents in the field to follow. All agents must follow the orders, or they become evidence that needs to be "eliminated". The main character (forget his name ) cannot complete and order, and because of this, he gets demoted; to work in the very same station that gave him the codes for that mission. But of course there's got to be terrorists whose target is that station... Yeah I know, cheesy description. That's why I'm not a movie critic- and why I'd never be chosen to write a synopsis for movies. Anyhoo, if you watch it I hope you like it. One of my favorite movies I've seen this year so I want to share it with everyone.
