    ET Ingame Videos

Hello. I know there is a topic called "Ingame Screenshots", however the name suggests it is rather not for in game recordings, that's why I decided to create completely new topic with all our recordings. First I will start with my "Wolf ET - Bloopers and unusual frags" compilation. It's amusing to see a compilation dedicated to random, weird and funny stuff and not only a frag showcase. I have a lot more bits of recordings and plan to create a series of these videos. Black textures or absurdly thick wires from trap mines are an effect of newer experimental renderer I struggled with. With old regular renderer everything looks normal. Please like and share 😄
  4. Since Legacy has replaced ETPro as a mod for competitive games - a little update is required. ~ BEFORE YOU START IN ORDER TO PLAY ON LEGACY MOD WITHOUT INCOMPATIBILITY ISSUES, IT IS RECOMMENDED TO USE THE ET: LEGACY CLIENT. If you don't use it already, you can download it from here: https://www.etlegacy.com/ (make sure to use 32 bit version!) Take your time and read the wiki pages written by ETL devs. Installation, path structure, change-log, new cvars, commands. Everything you need. https://github.com/etlegacy/etlegacy/wiki ~ BINDS & SCRIPTS Basic scripts that'd barely changed over the years + some new stuff you need to know. Selfkill: bind [key] "kill" (it will auto tapout) Enemy spawntimer: bind [key] "resettimer" (you don't need multiple binds - the correct spawntime for given map and team will be set automatically) (optional: bind [key] "sharetimer", in order to share the spawntimer you've set) Spawn selector: bind [key] "setspawnpt 1; play sound/menu/select; echo ^0[^7spawn @ 1^0]" bind [key] "setspawnpt 2; play sound/menu/select; echo ^0[^7spawn @ 2^0]" bind [key] "setspawnpt 3; play sound/menu/select; echo ^0[^7spawn @ 3^0]" bind [key] "setspawnpt 4; play sound/menu/select; echo ^0[^7spawn @ 4^0]" bind [key] "setspawnpt 5; play sound/menu/select; echo ^0[^7spawn @ 5^0]" bind [key] "setspawnpt 0; play sound/menu/select; echo ^0[^7spawn @ default^0]" Some spawnpoints are different in Legacy compared to ETPro. You can use /spawnmenu or /listspawnpt to make sure you spawn at the correct place. Class selector: bind [key] "class m 1; echo ^0[^7medic^0]" bind [key] "class e 1; echo ^0[^7engi w/ smg^0]" bind [key] "class e 2; echo ^0[^7engi w/ rifle^0]" bind [key] "class f 1; echo ^0[^7fops^0]" bind [key] "class c 1; echo ^0[^7sten^0]" bind [key] "class c 3; echo ^0[^7sniper^0]" bind [key] "class s 2; echo ^0[^7mobile mg^0]" bind [key] "class s 4; echo ^0[^7panzer^0]" ~ CUSTOMIZATION Over the years of Legacy mod development, there were lots of cvars removed and some added. At least 50 removed cvars are HUD-related cvars. Legacy has an advanced HUD editor that allows players to customize their UI for maximum convenience. If you wanna see some other players' custom HUDs, you can check this page: https://ratemyhud.com/ The HUDs were made by players, you can preview and download them. Some also include a .cfg file! Go to /about page for more info, like installation details. The first thing I did when I put my hands on the HUD editor was moving my spawntimer and enemy spawntimer closer to the center of the screen. This way I almost never selfkill on full spawn. Make some stuff bigger (my radar/minimap, yeah), some stuff smaller, get rid of something or move it somewhere else, and you'll be done and good to go with your own setting. More about the HUD editor --> https://etlegacy.readthedocs.io/en/latest/hudeditor.html There's also a tutorial by @Shoresy, where he talks about Legacy configuration and how to use HUD editor: Here are some cvar and their values recommendations that might be useful in competitive gameplay: Make sure you can see teammates changing their classes: cg_fireteamLatchedClass "1" Make your popups stay longer, so you see for example, how many enemies already died: cg_numpopups "9" cg_popupStayTime "12000" cg_popupFadeTime "20000" Have demo autorecord enabled, so you have a way to confirm or learn something after the match. set your cg_autoaction to "1" or one of these "3" "5" "7" (different value - different auto actions taken except for taking the demo) Enable bullet tracers for enemy only. This way you can often determine where the enemy was shooting from. cg_tracers "3" This one might be just my preference - but I'm so used to playing this enabled. Setting cg_simpleItems to "1" (enabled except for objectives) or "2" (enabled for all items) transforms the stuff that lies on the ground (medpacks, weapons, obj, etc.) into more distinguishable, shiny objects. Much easier to find stuff around. Comp games tend to be fast, so you need to be fast. Speed up your console open/close animations with this cvar: con_openspeed "15" Enable quick chat binds. For example, when you hold a grenade and use weapalt (right mouse button press by default) you'll say "Fire in the hole!". This can be done with this cvar: cg_quickchat "1" Even though you'll use comms, sometimes it's good to emphasize something in-game. All quickchats: https://etlegacy.readthedocs.io/en/latest/cvars.html#cg-quickchat Hide gun/disable gun animations. This might feel weird at start, but having the guns doing less movement or having them hidden completely, can greatly improve visibility. In Legacy, you can use either cg_drawGun "0" (hide all weapons/tools) or cg_drawGun "2" (hide primary and secondary weapons only). To control weapon animations, there is cg_weapAnims bitflag cvar. Default is 15 meaning all animations are enabled. Choose and add together the animation values you want to see. | 0 None | 1 Move | 2 Firing | 4 Reload | 8 Switch | (I prefer to use cg_weapAnims "13" - firing anim disabled and cg_drawGun "1" - no weapons hidden) Show spawnpoints during warmup. There's a cool feature that draws exact spawnpoint numbers on the floor/where you spawn. Since newer maps and ETL overhauls use more spawnpoints (not to mention the so-called minor spawns) this makes it easier to find out the perfect spawnpoint to spawn from. cg_drawSpawnpoints "1" You'll need to adjust your cg_fov and sensitivity values if you're switching from other mods. Due to game changes, those might feel slightly different. Fov value can be converted (for example using this formula - replace ETPRO_FOV with your fov: https://www.wolframalpha.com/input?i=atan(3%2F4*tan(PI*ETPRO_FOV%2F360))*360%2FPI) And here's list of all cvars that I use, if you just wanna copy-paste seta cg_fireteamLatchedClass "1" seta cg_numpopups "9" seta cg_popupStayTime "12000" seta cg_popupFadeTime "20000" seta cg_autoaction "5" seta cg_simpleItems "2" seta con_openspeed "15" seta cg_quickchat "1" seta cg_drawGun "1" seta cg_weapAnims "13" seta cg_drawSpawnpoints "1" I'm not covering any renderer cvars here, there's plenty of tutorials on this I think. The Legacy mod changes in that area were less significant than the UI for example. Anyway, here are more cvar explanations: https://etlegacy.readthedocs.io/en/latest/cvars.html (as of writing this tutorial, not all cvars are described, sadly). In general, ETL devs have fixed many cvar default values, so that new player with standard config will have pretty much "plug&play" client. Not to mention, the in-game menus are much more intuitive - you just hover on a setting and it tells you what it does. For undemanding people - all you need is a few clicks and you're ready to go, while default ET 2.60b/ETPro config is quite unplayable. Speaking of old ET versions - it is highly NOT recommended to use old configs with Legacy. These 2 commands will come in handy while playing with configuration: - /cvar_restart - self explanatory, resets all cvars to their default values - /cvar_trim - when used, it will remove all invalid/unknown cvars from your currently loaded config. If you think you've got a mess in your .cfg, consider using this command, and then using /writeconfig *filename.cfg* to save it to a file. ~ COMMS Since Discord became popular, it took over all ET players using other apps for communication (like TS3, etc.). Having a working mic and actively supporting your team by giving accurate comms is crucial in successful team-play. Don't worry if you don't know how to say something or how to call a specific place - takes like 5 times playing a map to learn. You'll just describe what you see and more experienced players will understand you with no problems. And NEVER worry about your accent/bad english. You're having a perfect opportunity to learn how to use spoken version of the language, no one will hate you for that. ~ TACTICS Those have not changed. Even though there were new features added, like dropping the objective (which has never existed on ETPro), this is still the same game, only better IMO - some still miss the old days - I don't do much, really. If you're new on that, I found this old tutorial about ETPro scrimming basics, most of the tips are still useful: --- I'll do my best to update this tutorial when some changes are needed. Meanwhile, don't hesitate to reply to this thread or DM me if you've got any questions. Happy fragging!
  5. As always, happy to announce a new ET: Legacy update! After nearly a whole year, we've lived to see a round version number 2.82 Feel free to download at https://www.etlegacy.com/download (remember to use 32 bit version if you also play on other mods than Legacy) Full change-log: https://github.com/etlegacy/etlegacy/wiki/Changelog#2820---march-2024 Summary & gfx by @kemon:
  6. Hey everybody, I miss another topic here with show your gaming gear. So I thought I'd make a new one. So show here your game setup / pc / console or even mancave space where your are playing your favorite games: It's just for fun 😄
  7. Yesterday a new etl_supply version was released. You can get it here https://www.etlegacy.com/packages/etl_supply_depot_v13 Since it's one of the most popular ET maps, I thought you might be interested in this. Looks pretty different than the other one(s) we've seen. What do you think?
  8. I know someone in the past posted on the forum a short video how to get there but I can't find it. Anyone can help?
  9. -=HipKat=-

    ET Japan!

This is a WW II-based game and WW II was fought on 2 fronts, in Europe and Japan. Has anyone ever made Japan campaign-based maps? I don't think I've ever seen any. Might be something to consider in place of always rotating old maps in and out of the various server rotations.
  10. Hi, I am having an issue after starting up the console. When I enter "/" on the prompt the console dissapears and I have to press "~" again to bring the console back up again. The console keeps on dissappearing that way until I enter a different character like "u". So when I click "u" and than delete "u" again I can enter "/" and the console won't dissapear. I can only than start complete the command I want to insert. Does anyone knows if and how this can be fixed?
  11. I am noticing a question that is coming up quite often and its involving configs. So as many notices, you may need to recreate a config or make a lot of edits to your current. There is a website all thanks to our very own @kajto3 Gallery of Legacy Mod HUDs | RateMyHud.com This is a great source I strongly recommend everyone taking a look at for help building a comfortable playstyle for ETL I promise you all ETL is awesome once you get it how you like it Another notable thing I recommend doing as well is you can create your own all within game. Just follow the steps below! You will want to: Esc>View>Hud Editor From this point you need to navigate to the upper right corner and click "Select Hud" pick a number, (I would start with 1). This is because you cannot modify the original hud (Hud 0) There is a general key that shows you what buttons do what and how to toggle things on and off. You can also click and drag things to desired location along with the sizes of everything as well. Do not forget to hit save! Another thing you may want to do is back to the options menu, go to Game, and slide the "View Bobbing Scale" down to 0. Alternatively you should be able to do "/cg_bobbing 0" as well. I hope this helps! As always, if I missed anything feel free to add!
  12. Hi guys, Hi have a interesting question.. If =F|A= had to assemble their best scrim team for like say pro competition, who would be selected based on their skills? Are pro scrim comps normally 6 v 6 ? (Tagged clan members only) Just curious to know.
  13. We all know that ET is the greatest game ever...... But how would feel about the idea of ET being released on unreal engine 5 graphics and all other game features stayed exactly the same. Would ET regain popular interest again? Your thoughts..... Thanks

    ET SFM support

Question. Is there any tool that could allow me to import characters or maps from Wolfenstein ET (idTech 3 engine) into Source Filmmaker? There are some python scripts on github for converting files for Blender but I don't know how to use them (they look like libraries or some parts of an application and not an application itself). Blender could be another solution for animation. Third option could be a tool to create or modify demos where I could program characters and their behaviour and then record its playback in OBS. Do you have any other solutions or ideas?
  15. Hi ! I used many times the rifle and I notice that with smg, the accuracy is overwhelmingly good : I can touch an enemy and sometimes (it's very rare though) kill him even at very large range, but with the rifle (Garand M1 or Gewehr 43) it is a struggle to even touch the enemy while he is quite close or when I'm proned. Halp !
  16. I edited a compilation of clips from two of Clown's (https://crossfire.lol/user/1434/clown) streams from back in 2016 and uploaded it for safe keeping. When I saw them back then they was very helpful for me and taught me a lot so I figured I would put this narrowed down version here for anyone who could benefit from some of the information <|:^] Original versions can be watched at https://www.twitch.tv/clvvn P.S. If anybody still has that landmine file, please send it my way so I can reupload it and make it available!
  17. Many returning ET players ask this often: what are the differences between ETPro and Legacy mods? If you haven't known - Legacy has completely replaced ETPro as a competitive mod (and does good job as a mod for public servers). It would take many thread pages to explain all the fixes, adjustments, additions and cleanups that ETL devs have done over the years (and they don't stop!). I'll list some of them (written mostly by someone else) Leaning is visible for your opponent, especially if the player is too close to the corner. There's a high chance that movers - like truck and tank - will gib the player if they run over them when in prone or wounded state, instead of simply pushing them. Same goes for closing doors. Generally, it is unsafe to lay in the truck (with gold in it) if it is moving up a hill or turning. Physics are slightly different - players gain slightly more speed when jumping (you might need adjustment for some trickjumps) - the speed is lower than "pmove_fixed" 1, but higher than ETPro "b_fixedphysics". Hitboxes and hit registration in general should be superior to ETPro - some long time bugs and issues that are still present in ETPro were fixed). It is pretty much safe to play on sv_fps 40 instead of sv_fps 20 - the game is updated and updates are sent more frequently, which means - for instance - faster hitsound and lower ping (in big simplification, you can think about it the same way as about tickrate 64 vs 128 in CS:GO - in general, the game should feel better) You can play on Legacy mod with 2.60b ("vanilla") client or ET: Legacy client. ET: Legacy client has a built-in minimizer and in general is a lot more modern and far more superior than 2.60b client. Spawntime selector is no longer needed in Legacy mod. All you need to do is "bind YOURKEY resettimer". The correct time interval for given map will be selected automatically. ET: Legacy client has got widescreen support - meaning ETPro fov is not equal to Legacy fov. The allowed fov range in Legacy is 75-160 (extended to 120 in competitive configs) which corresponds to 106.26-120 ETPro fov. Visible explosions are forced - cg_wolfparticles CVAR was removed. However, the explosions has been reworked, no longer being an actual obstacle during game (can be compared to explosions in CS:GO or RTCW). Proning collisions are slightly different. Missile hitsounds are enabled - you will hear a hitsound when dealing damage with grenades, artillery, airstrike. Reviving is slightly easier (higher hitbox). Legacy doesn't support ETTV/gamestv. The shoutcaster feature has been reworked, being now far more superior to ETPro shoutcaster. It is possible to safely play on as many as 250 fps - com_maxfps CVAR is no longer limited to 125, as some framerate issues has been fixed. Development of Legacy mod might not be the fastest but is still ongoing compared to ETPro - which stopped 15 years ago. It is safe to say, that the ETPro's source code will never be made public and its development is dead. "dropobj" command has been added - you can now drop the obj without selfkilling. Some spawnpoints numbers are different in Legacy compared to ETPro. An example might be first stage goldrush spawnpoint to spawn back as Axis. Grenades and riflegrenades seem weaker on moving targets due to sv_fps 40 and therefore more accurate player position updates and more accurate explosion timings. Reworked HUDs: since the 2.81.0, ET: Legacy introduced a new way to fully customize all HUD components by using the in-game editor and using an extended json hud file. Need more? ET advice

quesiton a gaming keyboard is really a game changing experience ? i am thinking of getting one , perhaps a Hyper X alloy or maybe a corsair k70 ?
  20. Glad here. I would like to hear a few estimates/guesses on how many stable fps I should get at 1080p, normal settings, with the following setup: - i5-7500 (3.4ghz - 3.8ghz turbo) - UHD Graphics 630 - 8gb ram - ssd I talked with prowler about it and he recommended one of those old desktops used for business that are 3-5 years old or so. I'm able to find great deals on them. $100 (or euro) for desktops with the above specs that used to sell for 700-800. Neat! I've also heard that ET runs mostly on CPU and not GPU? So how does a GPU still affect FPS in ET? I find it confusing.
  21. @yaku Sent me this video, if you use steam a lot or want to get the playercount of ET up on steam check the vid!

  24. Hello everyone, You have every right to be angry with me. I am also angry with myself. I couldn't control myself for a while. I've had booze. And I was a bit surprised and angry at the responses I got after my Re apply. If you guys want to kick or ban me i get it i totally deserve it. Still, I shouldn't have done that! Not at all to you @rMks and @GHARIB So my apologies again. you guys just wanted to help me. my reaction was so bad and of limit so I'll keep quiet for a while. I still love FA and hope to continue playing there. But I won't say much out of respect. I know I was wrong. So for everyone I'm sorry. I'll behave, it wasn't nice of me i know that. i wish i could turn back time. Thank you in advance for your understanding(i hope) Kind Regards Justice.
  25. A while ago, I created this website: https://ratemyhud.com/ It's a place where people can share they custom HUDs generated by Legacy HUD editor. I thought you might want to check what it's capable of, even if you don't play on Legacy (yet ). You can read a bit more on /about page. You can test the HUD editor on our ETL server (etl.clan-fa.com:27950), in Options > View > HUD Editor. Each HUD on the page can be downloaded. I hope it's gonna interests some of you at least!
