Creating a new config
When the config
creator loads, the default ET CVAR values will be set up:
You can easily change these
values, and when the cursor is placed over a property, its description will be
displayed in the description bar below.
One of the features in ETT is
the ability to exclude game properties in the config.
To do this, left click on the property you wish to exclude. Excluded properties
will be shown in red (see image below). To include them again, left click on
them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Using the tabs above, you can
select which 'step' you wish to view. Once you have modified the settings you
have the option to insert 4 commonly used ET scripts into your config as well as using the Class Selector to set up Class
binds, before the creation of the config file.
Ticking/Unticking the boxes will allow you select
which ones you wish to use.
When you select a script, you
can choose the key to bind the script to by clicking on the “Select Key”
button. An on-screen keyboard will appear where you can click the key you want
to bind to.
After selecting the values
and scripts, you can now create the config output.
Clicking on the 'Create Config' button in the 'Config Output' tab will bring up all the config code in a window to the right and produce two graphs
to the left. These graphs may be of use when modifying values to get the
highest quality, or the highest Frames Per Second. At
any point you may re-create the config output if you
have gone back and changed any values.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You now have the option to
save this config output to a config
file, so you may use it in your game. However, if you also wish to add binds or
other 'foreign' CVAR properties then you can skip the save part, and go onto
the next tab.
You have three types of binds
to choose from - a simple "say" bind, where only text is bound to a
key, a "vsay" bind where a voice output is
used in-game, and both a "say" and a "vsay"
bind where the two are used together to produce both voice and text output.
Clicking on the "Add bind to config" button
will add the appropriate code to the window in the "Config
Output" tab.
Other CVARs
may be added here. Again, when the values are set and the 'add' button is
clicked, the code will be added to the main config
output window.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you have created the
output code, and added any extras to it, you can now save this code to a .cfg file.
If you have used the default
installation path for ET, then you can use the "One-Click Save to
file" button. This will automatically save a new file to your ETMain folder. If you recieve an
"Invalid Path" error message, then the program is unable to locate
your ETMain folder itself. If this is the case, then
use "Manually Select Save Destination" button to save the .cfg file to your ETMain folder.
A message will appear telling
you if the save was successful.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To
execute your new config file (called autoexec.cfg by default), load up ET and bring down the
console using the ` key. Then type
/exec autoexec.cfg (or what ever name you chose to
name your config file) and press Enter. You will then
need to restart your game once. The config file will
now automatically be used when loading the game every time. All the settings,
binds and scripts are now loaded, and you may now game with your new config in place!
