Admin Abuse

If a complaint is filed against any member of our community where valid proof has been given, like for example screenshots, demos or cell phone pics and videos can also be accepted, then the following steps will be taken:

  • Complaint 1: Verbal warning given via private messages on the forums or server.
  • Complaint 2: Demotion. You will be temporarily moved to a lower admin level for a period of time decided by management (Staff, Co-leaders, Leaders or Founders).
  • Complaint 3: Your membership will be suspended for good.

Giving kicks or bans without valid reasons is considered as admin abuse. If you are found doing this with offensive comments or random reasons you will be given a few warnings at first but if this continues you will be demoted. Sometimes people are jerks but there’s very rarely a need to kick or ban someone, especially without a good reason. If you see that you’ve been demoted after doing this then don’t complain as you have been warned.

We do not tolerate admin abuse.

AFK or Inactive players

If a player is AFK for more than 3-4 spawn cycles (or 90 seconds) then the server should automatically move them to spec, if not, simply move them. Do not kick people in spec for being AFK unless a member is trying to join the server when it’s full. If this is the case then kick the player who has been away the longest and only that one player. Note that if a player is a VIP then they have protection against being kicked and can stay in spec for as long as they like. Our silEnT servers should automatically kick inactive players when the server is full so you don’t need to worry about members trying to join if you play there.

Speaking in Foreign Languages

On most servers, we only allow 5 to 10 seconds of conversation for things such as greetings and small talk. If after a few sentences they continue, politely tell them that English is the only language allowed in main chat. The only exception to this is if an admin wants to help a player in their native language. Give them plenty of warnings (3 verbal warnings in main chat and 1 in private messages). We never kick people for speaking another language just tell them to take it to private messages or if they can, team or fireteam chat.

This rule is a lot more relaxed on our European servers; Beginners 1, Beginners 2, NQ1, NQ2 and TDM.

Team Stacking

Trial and clan members should be the first to move to even teams. We expect members to move at least once every 2-3 maps. Also not all members have good enough skill level, to make difference or actually resolve unbalance issue, so if that's the case, asking/moving regulars/skilled player is best thing to do. Make a habit of checking the teams each time you’re waiting to respawn. If teams are uneven and you can’t move, ask 3 times in chat nicely. After this check the scores and move whoever would balance the teams best with the !putteam command. Note that there doesn’t always need to be the same number of players on each team for balance – a lot of the time 14 vs 12 can be an even game. Just make sure to check the scores before calling for balance. If you have access to the shuffle command, only use it during warmup (make sure all player have connected) or if teams are incredibly unfair (ex: 11v2) and people are not moving.

If you see someone intentionally join the strongest team, move them to the weaker one straight away and explain to them the rules regarding stacking.

Note: Players are allowed to switch to the team of their liking after a shuffle, provided that the teams are still fair and even. Stacking in any shape or form is not allowed. Admins may use their own judgment on players that do move after a shuffle. If they feel that a player has made teams uneven, they are free to move them back and take action accordingly. Players should respect the admins decision and remain on the team that the admin has moved them to. If a player feels that it's abuse, they are welcome to complain on our forums, NOT on the server.

Note 2: Please do NOT use !putteam to move bots in any capacity. If a bot is making it difficult for you to even the teams, please contact a higher admin or a member of staff to assist you. Interfering with the bots with !putteam can cause issues with the bots which can result in requiring a server restart to correct.

Warn, Kick & Ban Command Usage

Below is the appropriate action you should take when you find the following troublemakers as well as the reason you should give when you use one of these commands. Never use one of these commands without a meaningful reason so that other admins can know why they were issued.

Important note for JAYMOD !warns

If you want to warn someone in a JAYMOD server, first you have to do !li and check if he/she has some warns already. If he/she has been warned before, when you warn them again, you have to rewrite old warns and add yours.

Example Cheepheep has multiple warns:
19: Cheepheep (Admin: =F|A=rambozo37), reason: stacking x3, trolling x2, English in main x1

Now if you want to warn him, for example trolling, you have to rewrite all of the prior warns and add yours so when using !warn command it should look like this
!warn cheepheep stacking x3, trolling x3, English in main x1

If you only do !warn Cheepheep trolling, it will erase all of the prior warns and only your warn will show up.

This is very important so we can keep track on trouble players and follow the rules.

Advertisers

Intentional advertising results in a 90 day ban. Ban time can only be extended by leaders and founders. Unintentional advertising such as mistyping a /connect command or pressing an old bind by mistake may result in a 30 day mute if they continue to do it. Make sure you tell them to remove a bind if they hit it by accident.

Reason: Advertising.

Cheaters

Cheating results in a 90 day ban. If the same person has been caught cheating a second time this results in a ban of 365 days. Final ban time may change depending on type of cheat used.

Reason: Cheating.

Proof must be submitted within 2 days. If you have a suspicion that someone is cheating first record some demos as well as the timestamps where you think it is clear that they are using cheats. Post the demo in the Suspected Cheater Section on our forum so that other clan members can review your demos. Our policy is ‘No proof – No ban’. If someone has to be unbanned 3 times because of invalid proof, you will lose your ban command.

Insults & Whining

Complaining once in a while isn’t that bad and is allowed. We’ve all been annoyed at the game every once in a while and it can get irritating dying over and over. What we don’t want is constant whining, especially if it leads to insults. Most of the time simply asking them if it’s worth getting annoyed is enough to calm them down and no further action is needed. Admins should not be part of the problem but should be working to fix it. At the end of the day, it’s a game and we’re here to have fun.

The normal procedure when dealing with people like this is by starting with verbal warnings (2 to 3 times) and then continue with up to 3 !warn commands. If the behavior continues, begin by applying a mute of no more than 30 minutes and then progressing with 1 hour, 3 hours, 1 day, 3 days, and 7 days. If they have been muted for 7 days already, continue renewing as needed. Initial mutes should be no more than 30 minutes.

Reason: Insulting, Trolling or Whining.

If someone tells you they’re being insulted in private messages, tell them to take a demo or screenshots and explain this to them if they don’t know how to.

Additionally, please keep in mind that any mutes beyond 14 days requires approval by leadership.

Player Names

Names that directly insult other players or our community are not allowed. We allow anyone to use the same name as an admin as long as they don’t use the =F|A= tags. For example, Daredevil is allowed but =F|A=Daredevil is not. Always do a list to check admin levels if you’re unsure of who’s who. Intentionally posing as an =F|A= clan member will result in a 30 day ban. Refer to the Tag Stealers section if needed.

Names such as ‘unnamedplayer’, ‘ETPlayer’, ‘Newplayer’ and ‘ETUIplayer’ should be renamed to Player1, Player2 etc. If you don’t have the rename command make sure you take finger information in case another player with the same name connects.

Insulting names should be dealt with as such: 3 warns, a kick and if they continue, a 30 day ban.

Reason: Insulting player name.

Players With High & Unstable Ping

If a player’s ping reaches over 500 there are a couple of things you can do. First ask them to change their max packets and rate with /cl_maxpackets 100, /rate 34000 and /cg_autorate 1. Some of our servers have options in the vsay menu by pressing 0. Admins should be familiar with this menu so that they can easily explain it to new players. If they don’t change their settings continue to message them in private messages telling them to make the changes or ask on Discord if there’s someone who can translate for you.

High ping is usually only an issue on servers with a large number of slots such as 50 or 64, it shouldn’t matter that much for a 20 or 24 slot server. Also note that a stable ping of less than 500 is allowed as it doesn’t hurt the server but if the ping fluctuates a lot from, say, 200 to 600 or 70 to 450, then try to work with them to fix it – put them in spec if you need to get their attention. If this doesn’t work kick them from the server. If after 3 kicks the player continues to lag, ban them for 12 hours for the same reason.

Reason: Ping Spikes.

Recruiters

Recruiting results in a 90 day ban. Ban time can only be extended by leaders and founders.

Reason: Recruiting.

Tag Stealers

The only people wearing F|A tags should be trial members and above. If you see someone wearing tags and they shouldn’t be, politely ask them to remove them. If English isn’t a language they understand, hop on Discord and ask for a translator. Refusal to remove the tags results in warns. 3 warns and then a kick or a 1 day ban can be given. Some servers issue warns and kicks automatically depending on the mod.

Reason: Tag Stealing.

Teamkillers & Messing With Teammates

Intentionally killing, teambleeding or harassing teammates should be dealt with as follows.

3 warns, splats or moving to spec, 3 kicks and then if continued the player should be banned with the following day increments: 1, 3, 7, 15, 30, and 90.

Reason: Teamkilling or Harassing Teammates.

XP Farming

We allow XP farming as long as the player isn’t harming their own team. Refer to the Teamkillers & Messing With Teammates section if this is the case. We also do not allow players doing this just to gain rating on tracking sites.

Additional Suggestions

Our golden rule is: If an issue can be solved with a verbal warning, why resort to using commands? If it can be solved with a warn, why mute? If it can be solved with a mute, why kick? And if it can be solved with a kick then why ban?

Always be on your best Everyone has a bad day once in a while and sometimes we just want to take our frustrations out on the game but never take it out on other players. If you feel like you’re gonna do something you regret then either don’t play, go to a quieter server or take your tags off and go play on someone else’s server.

Don't show weaknesses Not everything smells like roses all the time, especially if you are talking about dealing with people but if things aren't well between admins there is no reason for other people to know. If players see two admins bitching at each other they’ll get the impression that they can do the same. Personal matters should be dealt with in private and not in front of the people that play on our servers.

Don't undermine another admin’s authority If you see someone taking action you don't agree, such as warning or muting someone, don't ever undo what they’ve done. If this is the case, explain to them why you think they’re wrong and ask them to undo the command they issued. If they choose not to undo it, take it to the forums using 'contact us' and let staff deal with that but treat them with respect. An exception to this is a higher ranking admin undoing a trial’s mistake.
