Do you carry a firearm when they leave their home?

Yes I carry, here in Virginia we are a shall issue state. Yes, I have used a gun to protect myself from being robbed. I carry a Sig Sauer P232 or a Sig Sauer P229. I have both the .40 and .357Sig barrels for the 229, and the 232 is chambered in .380. It depends what I'm wearing, and where I'm going that determines gun of choice. -

Why would you need a laser for a pump shotgun? I have an 870 Marine Magnum, 18 inch barrel and 7 round tube. I keep the slide released and no round in the chamber. Most people use a laser for intimidation. If you hear the unmistakable sound of an 870 shotgun being pumped and you are still in my house that is your own fault. Be prepared to meet some .000 buck from 3'' Magnum shells. Sig P229 .357Sig with night sights as my back-up, but doubt I need it.

My career with the Boy Scouts of America has taken me back to the Commonwealth of Virginia. My family has settled in Palmyra, and we enjoy the piedmont of the Old Dominion. We live 8 miles from 2 vineyards and Monticello. Now off to the courthouse to get my concealed weapons permit re-issued.

I write this as 70mph winds are hitting my house in Eastern NC. Having a blast with the outer bands of Irene. Power has flickered once. Hurricane survival kit: 1. bottle of Maker's Mark 2. case of Blue Moon 3. 40lbs of ice 4. generator gassed up 5. food 6. 9 gallons of bottled water (4 frozen solid) 7. Remington 870 loaded with 000 buck 8. SigSauer P229 loaded with 12 rounds of .357sig hollowpoints 9. Bathtubs filled with water (to flush toilets) 10. Extra propane tank for grill is filled and gas grill moved to garage

My brother is an Aerospace Engineer at Hanscom Field in MA working for the Air Force. He recently was at Pax River NAS where he worked on F-18E, F-18F, V-22 Osprey, and JSF.
