Alphaleader Posted October 20, 2016 Share Posted October 20, 2016 [Trip ENDED in November 2016] Hi Guys i'm planning to have a trip to Vietnam soon ( just after the gameday ) It will be an organised journey with a travel agency : 9 nights with guide + 3 nights near the beach to,relax before comeback. During this trip i will take 2 times a night train, and after what i've seen on internet i'm a bit afraid (sometime it's not very clean) Can't imagine start a train at 1:30 pm until 5 am like this... Well, if someone been there and can give me some advices i will appreciate ( mosquitos , water bottle , monney change etc...) In short all you can say that is interesting ! schNee Posted October 20, 2016 Share Posted October 20, 2016 mimimimimiiiii =) u r traveling in a country which hasnt same standards as here. some stuff: disinfectant wipes !!! i have it also here with me every day coke, try to get it at airport, good for stomache probs some are saying u should bring some school stuff with u (for beggin poor childs) instead of money money u need for the markets, so i would exchange some here. for ur night problem. take ur own blanket with u, which u can use for beach then too. i wish u a lot fo fun!! since it's an organised journey i dont think you will have problems, my friends usually backpacking and never had any issues. so enjoy =) 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Not in a country like Vietnam, but it felt kinda poor because we had to use the bench couches in a railcar. I remember that the air was really dry in there, so i'd advise to bring still water, pillows and something to eat with a lot of sugar. Try to find out with your local general physicial whether you need to take antimalarials with you (https://www.cdc.gov/malaria/travelers/country_table/v.html), as there is a low but existing risk of malaria in there. You can like apply all sorts of creams and stuff, but generally anything with DEET (https://www.epa.gov/insect-repellents/deet) decreases your chance of getting bitten by a mosquito. Keep your identification and personal belongings always with you, but not in a bag. In your pockets for example. As there are always chances you might get robbed. Was there many years ago, under not so friendly conditions. Some parts of Nam are just beautiful and have some terrific beaches. Was a very good trip I started from the north (Hanoi and Halong Bay) to the center (Danang and Hoi An), to finish in the south (Ho-Chi Minh City (new name of Saigon) and Can Tho on the mekong river) As you can imagine it was a lot of transport ( bus, train, plane). I will attach some pics (just few samples) Vietnam is beautiful country and people are very friendly but it's a new country in the "business tourism", so now some tips : - Roads are full of motorbikes and they drive like hell...(can't say other word lol), so if you go by yourself don't try to drive as there is no insurance and it can cost a lot of money if you have any damages. - If you have to move for a long distance prefer plane to train ( i tried a night train and even it was funny, i will never do it again lol). Local plane (vietnam airline) is sometime cheaper and you will save your time (1h30 and half in plane VS 15h in a train...) - Best seasons are from half November to April but according our guide it's from half Marsh to half April. Don't visit end of February and beginning of Marsh as it's national holiday and everything is closed from 10 to 15 days. - They are not all fluent in English but will try to do their best to help you - Food is gorgeous ( spring rolls, and all specialities) but water isn't drinkable so you will be oblige to buy bottles everyday. - Don't forget anti mosquito if you want to be safe - In the south (Saigon) the temperature is about 30° all the year.... Since this country is opening to the world , it's in constant evolution (building, beach complex, tourist facilities...) and i know that in few year it will be completely different as now. Have some faith, open up to every - and any - difference you will find. Anything in particular you think is a must see in those areas? We were planning on spending 1 day in Da Nang and then the following day visiting Hoi An. Also, was the beach picture from Da Nang? Saigon is beautiful but very noisy (from 5am to 11pm). Just be careful about you bags as there is some "gangs" who try to take your money. They follow you behind the ATM (or in the street). They are on bikes and half of the face hiden. Especially in the tourist area and near the old south Vietnam president house I really enjoyed Danang and Hoi An. They are pretty safe place to live as most of the population have some moneys. Yes the beach pics is from Danang , wanna go there now ? hehe There is a lot of restaurants along the beach For Hoi An : The historical center is the place to go. If i can suggest you an hotel it's the : Atlas hotel. http://atlashoian.com/ 5min walking and it's a very comfortable hotel.
