Vanaraud
That Anderson AR15 looks similar to M4, what are the difference between them?

Leader RedBaird Posted June 6, 2016 Leader Share Posted June 6, 2016 I read of a new rifle coming out where the air-tube is replaced by a push-rod, so that there would be much less fouling in ar-15/m-16/m-4 style rifles. Well, all rifles that use air-tubes, for that matter. I wonder what metal they will make the rod, the new tube and the bolt-pusher out of. *DONG*
That Anderson AR15 looks similar to M4, what are the difference between them? Military issued M4s are 14" barrels, which makes them short barreled rifles under US law. Civilian sales M4s are 16" barrels to comply with ATF regulations. You can own short barreled rifles, but you have to have an ATF tax stamp for them.

They have had that for a long time, they call them gas piston ARs. The HK416 is a gas piston design. There is a sharp divide between gas piston vs direct impingement(original) design believers. A lot of people will argue but the gas piston has a number of significant drawbacks that the direct impingement design inherently doesnt.
