Really bad lag

Hi everyone

 

Did a quick search but couldn't find any other posts on this.

I have suddenly started to get almost constant lag and frequent connection interupt when playing COD4. 

 

I have tried on (feel ashamed) other servers but have same problem so I am guessing the problem is at my end.

 

I have tried in London and in Liverpool on high speed internet .and problem the same in both locations

 

Given this I am guessing the problem is with my computer. Spec is Core i7, 8gb RAM nvidia GTX870M graphics. I have also limited the FPS to 125 in config file operating system is Win 8.1

 

I have read that some windows updates can affect COD4

 

Has anyone else had a similar problem and if so did you find a solution.

Are you using wireless internet?

Yes I'm using Wi-Fi but it was fine until this week. I know you get some packet loss but it wasn't really causing a problem

Try backup your router firmware, your wifi drivers and your settings and then update them,

then if update doesn't work, revert to your backups

Ok for windows 8, 1st try:

control panel >> network and sharing centre >> change advanced sharing settings >> turn off network discovery;

and write back if this fixes the problem
