I'm just a curious observer. I'm interested to see how this discussion will go.

If I may suggest - it might be useful for you to include more details and suggestions otherwise it's just 'a random thought'. For instance:

 - Why should F|A set up shop in South America? Is there lag on F|A's US servers for South American players?

 - What mod would you be suggesting? (SL/TB tracks most of ET - it might be able to provide some insights into mods favored by South American players; not sure if that information is easily accessible though - but perhaps Jonny could help with that)

 - What does F|A get out of this? Is it expected that there will be a lot of players? (i.e. how many South Americans actually play ET? I'm guessing quite a few Brazilians - but perhaps SL/TB can give some insight into this as well)

Aa proposal is generally a bit more detailed - so hopefully my feedback will help some. I'm looking forward to follow this topic and see where it goes.

Good luck!

The problem here, in South America, is that players are more oriented to Counter Strike series, especially .6 and GO, which makes ET and other Quake Engine games less and less popular.

Also, I just checked Gametracker and found 3 players in 6 servers (Chile and Brazil) and Argentina has none.

I'm Curious too explain ur self do you or they have problem of ping? or lag?

Well I'm from uruguay for they than dont know my country is between Argentina and Brazil and usually in the US servers by example of Silent#1 and Hardcore my ping goes between 170 and 190 in the best cases in the worst from 190 to 220, mostly never have lag than affect my gameplay(only the high ping doh but anyways im a nub :P)and if have lag is due my connection (than need fix) or due an server issue, etc

-If il guess the mostly of southamerican players i saw so far.  "thinking" -Brazil ----> They exist a Brazilian Clan "TROPA"

-Chile ------Need check Sl/Tb,,etc (Has few servers)

-Venezuela/Colombia Need check Sl/Tb,,etc (i Think i saw a server of one of them)

-Argentina --> Didn't saw a server of that location yet

                                                                                                               -  Contnue list (Peru,Ecuador,Paraguay,Bolivia,etc)

-Uruguay located in one of the latest place's haha :P (Found few players around years)

That's right South american players meaning all south america= Chile,Brazil,Argentina,Colombia,Venezuela,Uruguay-->(wich im),etc are interested on mostly on Counter strike,Call of duty series,Gta and other games but for our bad luck ET isn't popular as said above :(

Right, so that's 20 players who (hopefully) are playing without a hitch on F|A's American servers - this doesn't particularly convince me that a server in South American is actually required.

The point I was trying to illustrate before is that if you're making a proposal what you're really trying to do is convince someone else (an entity, in this case F|A) that they should do something for their good; in this case, a win-win (i.e. F|A wins & South American players win), for instance - what I'm missing here is an actual reason and evidence to match - i.e. you can't just make a proposal that says "I think we should do X" because it's not a proposal - it's a thought or at best a suggestion but it's not a proposal, at least not in a business sense and this is actually a community - and there are actual costs involved so if you actually want this - you will need to make a compelling case and actually show that it's achievable.

For instance:

 - Why should F|A open a server in South America? i.e. What does F|A get out of it? Can they expect 50 players on average? Can those players help foot the bill for the infrastructure (i.e. servers, website, etc)?

 - By your own admission, at some point in time (at the same time I'm guessing) there were 20 South American people spread over 2 F|A servers, now that isn't proof that a South American server is needed; but it does say that those 20 people can play on F|A's servers in the US of A.

 - Where would you suggest this server is to be hosted? Is the location well connected throughout South America? How is this location well connection to the other parts of the American Continent?

Now I'm not trying to dissuade you from making a proposal - but I am trying to help you actually form a proposal. You can't expect F|A's leadership to take it seriously if you don't actually give information as to 'Why' except for 'someplace close they can connect to and play' because let's face it, physical distance isn't that relevant. Case in point: I can connect to Silent-1, Hardcore (US of A) from The Netherlands and as far as the server and my computer/laptop is concerned I'm only ~150 milliseconds away!

Furthermore, from what I've seen and read so far, there's nothing in it for F|A except for one happy player which is you - others have already mentioned CS:GO and the likes are more popular (though I'm sketchy on their evidence [i.e. some sources might be useful to actually being able to make a comparison]; but  the evidence you've provided [20 players spread out over to 2 servers - in a limited time frame] is hardly a statistic either.

If there was (conclusive?) evidence that F|A might be looking at potentially 50 or more regular players (i.e. 25v25, 50v50) on a South American server then this might actually be worth considering and 'giving a try' but there's a lot of work to be done to set such a server up (i.e. finding out what server is required; finding out where to rent/host it [the internet connectivity should be great]; installing the server; maintaining it; installing the ET game server and the likes] and so much more) and I really do feel your proposal lacks quite a few details - so again, I'm not trying to put you down but I am trying to help you make a solid proposal.

I'm willing to help you - if you need it, just say the word.
